Advantages: excellent performances from Iggy Pop in concert Disadvantages: bizarre song order and variable recording quality
a wilder affair, - Punk had gripped Europe by now and Iggy's first European dates were greeted with messianic fervour. The tour ended up back in the states at the end of the year.
TV Eye 1977Live is a short document of those two tours, four tracks from each. The March dates are better recorded than the October tracks which are only of good bootleg standard - odd on an official release. But don't let that put you off. The four Bowie backed songs are excellent, from the opening roar of "TV Eye" - a rendition which equals the Fun House original - via a slightly ragged "Funtime" through an astonishingly good "Dirt", full of fire and anger, to the concluding "I Wanna Be Your Dog" which is superb apart from the affling decision to fade out just at the conclusion!
The October 1977 tracks are not as impressive, partly due to the poorer quality ...
Advantages: A great weekend, free events, attracts many big artists. Disadvantages: It may rain!
One of my best memories of summer 2001 was going to the Brecon JazzFestival whilst I was working at a summer camp nearby.
The Brecon Jazzfestival is renowned all over Europe and attracts big names such as Van Morrison and the Bootleg Beatles. There are loads of indoor concerts for which you need tickets, which can be expensive and sell out quickly. The town is transformed for the long weekend, all traffic is banned from the city centre and loads of marquees are put up.
As well as the paying events, there is loads going on for the rest of us who want to join in the fun (but are either skint or not willing to pay to listen to jazz).
In George Square there is a stage where bands play for free. The night I went there was a brass band (similar to Blues Brothers music). They were brilliant and really interesting to watch with all ...
Advantages: Good tunes Disadvantages: Singles the best
I have to admit that i've been an Ash fan since the very beginning when Girl From Mars was released. After i saw them perform at a radio one gig in Cardiff i've grown to love them for the grest music they do as well as Tims lovely cutie face.
I bought 1977 as soon as it came out and although i love all the singles off it i feel that the other songs are not so strong.
Each single off the album has strong lycical content as well as a catchy tune such as Angel Intercepter but other album tracks are lacking this.
I think that Nu Clear sounds was definately worse than this album as it's definately the best they've done.but, it you've got the singles don't bother unless you can get a free frissbee like i had. ...

Album Notes
Tito Puente: Tito Puente (vibraphone, timbales); Frank Figueroa (vocals); Mauricio Smith (alto saxophone); Albert Shikaly (tenor saxophone); Jimmy Frisura (trumpet, valve trombone); Paulo De Paula (trumpet); Richard Pullin (trombone); Paquito Pastor (piano); Nilo Sierra (bass instrument); Mike Collazo (drums); Jose Madera (congas); Louis Baizo (bongos); Manuel Santios, Julio Rodriguez. Tito Puente was a percussionist, bandleader, and composer whose music and style bridged modern jazz and mambo, Afro-Cuban and 1970's rock, and got lots of generations dancing in the process. Puente also influenced the rock band Santana, as well as many others both in and beyond the Latin sound. 1977 MONTEREY is a previously unreleased concert recording of Puente's big band tearing it up in front of a wildly appreciative audience. Throughout, Puente lights a fire under both the band and the crowd with his crackling timbales and vibraphone. In addition, vibes legend Cal Tjader joins in for one song.
