Live At The New Morning - Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes

...I bought this dvd about 3 months ago on Ebay. After loving his hit series 'PHOENIX NIGHTS',and watching 'Live at the Bolton Albert Halls',about two years previously I knew he was a class act,with a unique comedy style of his own. It wasnt up until just randomly coming across it on Ebay that I was reminded what a great and hilarious talent he is. I payed only 0.99p for the dvd,which had been used previously,but had come in great condition. Only yesterday,I saw it in HMV for 6 pounds,which is great value for such a great installment of laughs. The DVD is called 'Peter Kay,Live at the Bolton Albert Halls,as part of his 'Mum wants a Bungalow Tour'. Bolton being his home town,it was bound to be a sell-out It's filmed as part of his sell out ,180 date tour that spanned 9 months and was seen by 300,000 people. Many people who are seen... Advantages: One of, if not the best track by the band. Quite possibly the best album to date
Disadvantages: Not as many fast glam tracks, that will likely to disapoint older fans

...of these bands who feel compelled to release new material all the time, rather letting album linger with 3 years between the previous album Head Music and this offering. Brett Anderson - Vocals Simon Gilbert - Drums Alex Lee - Acoustic Guitar/Keyboards Richard Oakes - Electric Guitar/Backing Vocals Mat Osman - Electric Bass The first single taken from the album, "Positivity" is also the first track on the album. The track starts slowly with a guitar intro, joined reasonably quickly by the drums before Brett comes in with the vocals. The track drifts along nicely lead by the guitar and driven nicely by Brett's superb vocals and the incredibly well written lyrics. Advantages: Extremely funny material. Lee Evans at his best.
Disadvantages: First half is slightly disappointing.

...I actually saw this particular tour when Lee Evans came to perform live at the Birmingham NIA. It was an absolutely brilliant act and he is a comedian that you can watch over and over again. His material is very unique and will have you hysterically laughing on odd occasions. The first half of this DVD is not particularly great. Some bits are very funny but you can find yourself waiting for something really funny to happen and it wont for a good ten minutes. The second half is the complete opposite. If you have seen the XL tour or even Live at Wembley you still wont have seen Lee Evans at his best until you have watched this! Anyone who enjoys the silly and immature style which Lee Evans entertains so well with, must have a copy of this DVD.... Read review
