Advantages: "When the Money's Gone" and a couple others, danceable Disadvantages: rather bland; slower songs are lame
...Legendary diva Cher first landed on the pop charts in 1965, but despite allegations that she could survive a nuclear apocalypse, the plastic fantastic one claims to be calling it quits after her current tour comes to an end. I don’t think that day will ever come. I can see Cher settling down in a LasVegas coliseum with the likes of Celine Dion and Elton John. She won’t be hanging up her wigs anytime soon. I’d put money on it.
Although Cher can still put on a fantastic live show, her latest album, Living Proof is mediocre at best. There are only three or four songs on the album that stand out, and the rest are bland and forgettable.
More than her previous albums, 'Living Proof' makes an attempt to be serious. In the liner notes, Cher even dedicates the LP to 'the courageous people of New York, especially the firefighters, police...

Advantages: 21 brilliant songs, great lyrics Disadvantages: a couple of weak links
...why we need two best ofs please. It has a distinctive 'Woodstock' sixties feel to it.It is also very strong lyrically, poetic and Dylanesque. A terrific song and with a lullaby like quality to it.
'The Queen And The Soldier (live)' is a live performance of one of Vega's most popular songs with fans. Again it is a monumental lyrical piece and is a poetic story put to words. A song of betrayal.
'Woman On The Tier(I'll See You Through)' I am afraid is what happens when experiments go too far, you can create a monster. This song is a monster ...monsterously bad. Words can not do it justice.
Suzanne Vega's career has spanned three decades and she has progressed very much as an artist.Perhaps she has even turned full circle as an artist moving from folk rock through various experiments with the art of song writing...

Advantages: Consistently pleasing on the ears Disadvantages: Rather short
...It's taken nearly 20 years and for the band to split before I decided whether or not I liked the Cocteau Twins. The answer being: I just don't know. For every soaring, elating mix of songs, there's an album lurking in the shadows waiting to underwhelm and disappoint.
199o's 'Heaven or LasVegas' is easily my favourite release from the Twins, and I've always used it as a benchmark for the rest of their output, and really have found everything else wanting.
'Heaven' kicks off with an instant winner, and while no great change in their sound, it has an upbeat insistent quality that wins in instantly charming the listener. That opener is the typically odd labeled 'Cherry Coloured Funk'. For those unfamiliar with the 'Cocteau's' sound, it's an often overproduced, technical wonder of layer upon layer of sound, with 'Jangly' being...
