, was dirty, the tap didn\'t work and everything was just looking a little tired. The main room area, was very much the same, the windows were dirty, the curtains were worn, the pelmet was slightly torn and all in all, it was not what I had expected / hoped for from the Waldorf Astoria. Luckily, when visiting New York, very little time is spent in the hotel, and we had a fantastic holiday, and the superb location of the hotel was a bonus for the sightseeing as it is so well placed for most of the main attractions. It was just such a shame, that a hotel, with a reputation like this one is being allowed to deteriorate. Obviously all the money is being spent in the communal areas, which will obviously encourage people to stay (it worked with us), however, for us it will not be a hotel of choice for our next trip. ...

Waldorf Astoria Hotel, NYC

Advantages: 5 Star hotel in central location
Disadvantages: Some areas could be improved upon

good, but my own choice of cocktail would have been better. This was accompanied by assorted nuts which are served free of charge with the drinks. Unfortunately, drinks are pricey and I think that afternoon for three cocktails and three beers, we probably spent about £40. All in all though, the cocktail bar does have a good atmosphere. They also serve high tea here, which, although I deemed it to be expensive, did look to be delicious with a variety of sandwiches and cakes being served on a tiered serving dish. We also ate one evening at the Waldorf Astoria's steakhouse - the Bull and Bear. We had a nice meal here, and the service was top notch. We've found that wine in the US is more expensive than you'd pay here in the UK for a bottle, even if you're looking at ordering American wine such as something from California. You could ...

A little jaded, BUT This is THE WALDORF ASTORIA

Advantages: Great Location
Disadvantages: Some areas look 'a little tired'

My wife and I visited New York in March 2007 and stayed for five nights in a Junior Suite at The Waldorf Astoria. We had read a few indifferent reviews of the Waldorf on various websites before booking, but this was our first trip to NYC and we wanted to stay at The Waldorf. We wanted to stay there because its such a famous hotel and also because its in a great location to see New York from. On arrival, we had a slight queue but were greeted by a very pleasant female member of staff who checked us in very efficiently and told us all we needed to know. On being booked in, you cannot help but notice the fabulous lobby which is a city attraction in itself.
