Live In America - Los Van Van

...Hayes (drums). On this C D he covers some old Rhythm and blue songs, he also uses his own tunes. I find that although this Cd is not especially uplifting music it is not depressing either. Van sings his songs with emotion. Some of the emotions are brooding, slightly menacing . He sings of devotion, love. I must have been sitting here for just over an hour listening to Vans voice the haunting tones of the sax. This C D is very bluesy There are 15 tracks on this CD. Van Morrison was born in 1945 .He started his solo career in 1967 recording many albums in America I discovered he is playing in Bournemouth in march. I really would like to see /hear him live. ...that former Extreme frontman Gary Cherone would front Van Halen after Hagar but is unrepresented here. Also on this package are three new songs with Sammy Hagar singing. "It's About Time", "Up for Breakfast," and "Learning to See" are solid but unspectacular. Oddly there are three live songs also sung by Hagar which were originally Roth songs. The one problem with this CD is only a small problem but annoying just the same. The David Lee Roth songs and The Sammy Hagar songs are mixed together which for newcomers to Van Halen is bound to be confusing. Below I have set out the track list, running times, and parent albums. Then at the bottom of the page a list of albums and who the sungers were; hopefully this will help. All in all though this is a welcome addition to the Van Halen catalogue. ...Well this double CD beast of a release from the 70’s and 80’s rocks legends contains 36 tracks of their greatest hits; with 3 live version of some of their most famous songs. Some of these tracks are even previously unreleased tracks too, so there is something to keep any fan happy! 2h 35min and 26 seconds of value for money! 01 – Eruption A blindingly fast and furious opener. It is his trademark tapping soloing work, the tune although not fantastic is enjoyable. 02 – It’s about time Opens with a damn cool metal sounding riff, which almost doesn’t sound like Van Halen at all until the singing starts. This is one of the tracks previously unreleased, and its pleasantly good, not too different from the classics, but it shows they still have it.
