Album Notes: Guitarist Dave Specter bears the torch for Chicago electric blues, and on LIVE IN CHICAGO the Windy City native gets a chance to strut his stuff. Specter's clean, crisp playing is elegant, but carries enough sting and swing to keep things lively. Joined by a crack band and three guest vocalists, Specter blazes through a mix of originals (some penned by Specter himself, and some by his guests Sharon Lewis and Tad Robinson) that have the hometown crowd hooting and hollering. Chicago blues fans who pick up this disc will be taken back home.
Album Reviews: Down Beat (p.73) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "These are fascinating performers, moderately vigorous in their attack. The tear shed by Lewis shed by Lewis at the close of her heavy-hearted ballad 'Angel' is a tangible sign of the connection they made with their hearts."
Advantages: Soaring, beautiful folk-rock Disadvantages: slightly biased toward new material
...The songs of folk-rock powerhouse Jeff Tweedy have never sounded so raw, intimate and ultimately rewarding as they do on this brilliant live LP.
It's a thrilling journey on which to be taken, and one which never lacks humour, sadness, hope, vulnerability, bravery....the moods which are created by this album are seemingly endless. Older favourites such as Misundersood, Shot In The Arm and the apt Via Chicago are all given a new lease of life played live. Newer tracks lose their production shortcomings and are played with more passion than ever before. Even two tracks from the Mermaid Avenue albums (made with Billy Bragg and using lyrics by Woody Guthrie) make it into the setlists. The album is topped off by a heartwrenching track simply named Comment - music by Wilco wriiten for words by Charles Wright and Yusef Rahman. It's a sombre...

Advantages: Classic Performance By Classic Line Up Disadvantages: Lemmys Background Vocals occationall off Key
...In 1974 few bands had the foresight to celebrate the coming of the millennium, however Hawkwind did. This double CD recorded from the gig at the Chicago Auditorium on the 21st March 1974 and features the classic line up of:-
Dave Brock: vocals, guitar
Nik Turner: saxophone, flute, vocals
Simon King: drums
Del Dettmar: synthesisers
Lemmy: bass guitar, vocals
Simon House: keyboards, synthesizers and Violin
Stacia: mime & dance
The line up may have also featured the poet Robert Calvert and Dik Mik on Electronics but there is no information on their participation.
This album was initially released in 1997 during the time that the early albums were being remastered and re-issued by EMI. EMI probably agreed to putting this out as it would generate interest in the early and somewhat essential albums they were reissuing...

Advantages: Im in one of the rooms when the were filming part of it! Disadvantages: Dour festival is quite fuzzy and distortion is used to much!
...What can I say this baby "BLOWS ME AWAY" I first went to see the legend himself at creamfields in 2003 at the age of 16 I hadn't really heard much about him and what I did hear didn't impress me, but now I have changed my ways and have seen the light and how blinding it is!
Daves shows truly are something else as the DVD shows just how good he is, the two sets on the DVD just look like daves normal shows and to be hounest iv seen him do better but for home viewing or even parties this doesnt half get you fired up and looking on the internet for were he's playing next!
The King of Techno delivers time and again with this and with added videos of what was her name and wife of life (the best tune around!) its a bargain and not the sort of thing you can just catch on MTV!
The DVD also has a mad short of Dave and his crew on tour...
