First a little note, this is my second review, my first was OK but you guys gave me some constructive critisism, so I'm back to amend myself with another album, enjoy.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American band mixing popular funk with old school rock and roll, Live In Hyde Park is their first live album, which is a suprise, as the band itself is renowed for their live performances.
Live In Hyde Park is a two disc set, covering the full live performance (just over two hours), which in itself is value for money, it has 26 tracks, using a combination of their old classics, with their modern yet unmistakeably funk rock tracks, and even throws in some brand new, unheard songs and cover songs, as well as an entire track of trumpet jamming, and a track of some foot tapping drum work, the perfect mix, showing in full pride the bands live abilities.
The first time I listened to this album, I was concerned, after hearing other groups and bands compilations, and listening for the negative tell tale signs of live, I was suprised as you find yourself not noticing the perfomace was recorded live, apart from in between tracks, in which the track change is seamless.
To the tracks, the start of the first CD launches you into the album, with a track length intoduction, appropriatly named "Intro", which, after 3 minutes or so, lead unoticably into the first 'song'.
Enter "Can't Stop", one of the more widely recognised tracks of the band, the song introduces quite fast paced lyrics with a tune you both love and can't get out of your head.
From new to old, "Around The World", track 3, has the same pace lyrics, a different but nevertheless excellent tune, showing the excellent comparison to some of their earlier hits.
Track 4 slows things down, with the classic "Scar Tissue" slow music, slow lyrics, a nice finish to the upbeat start of the album.
The next two tracks get things moving again, with track 5 playing the phenominally popular "By The Way", following up with one of the mosr recent songs, "Fortune Faded", a mix of slow and fast pace, and unforgettable base playing.
Track 7 takes and unexpected twist, the band playing a cover of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love", make no mistake, as funny as they make it, they don't take the mickey.
One of my personal favourites, track 8 plays "Otherside", so I was pleased when the song was played remarkably, a slow, powerful song.
Track 9, "Easily" is the perfect song for live performance, which is reflected is the track, you can almost image them playing it, the crowd loves it, what more needs to be said.
Track 10, "Universally Speaking", accompanies track 11, "Get On Top", with simliar pace, and rythm.
Next "Brandy", a cover, followed by "Don't Forget Me" and then "Rolling Sly Stone", in which are various beats, rythms and pace.
And this is only the first CD! That alone is value for money, but there is even more.
CD 2 consists of: "Throw Away Your Television", "Leverage Of Space", "Purple Stain", "The Zephyr Song", "Californication", "Right On Time", "Parallel Universe", "Drum Homage Melody", "Under The Bridge", Black Cross", "Flea's Trumpet Treated by John" and "Give It Away"
As any Chili fan would know, the second CD has all the great and new hits in just as much as the first, "Drum Homage Melody" is a track of various drumbeats, including We Will Rock You, and "Flea's Trumpet Treated by John" is an amazingly foot tapping three minutes of music, and not forgetting the new songs, "Rolling Sly Stone" and "Leverage of Space", to name a few.
If you like live albums, this is for you, if your a Chili fan, this is for you, if you like rock or any kind of 'non-artificial' music, this is for you, an excelent album on all accounts.

...recorded over 3 days of live performances in London's Hyde Park, which were performed in the summer of 2004.
When buying this album i was quite critical of it before listening. My main thought being after i'd heard some of their previous albums (quite impressive) that they would not be able to capture the emotion and energy that can be found on such albums as 'BloodSexSugarMagik'. But i stand corrected.
The album kicks off with a melodic funk riff ... ...great thing about the Chilis live is their great ability to keep things fresh, i could not find a song on this album that sounded identical to original. This is not a mistake, and what something i didn't expect but was pleasently surprised to hear re-vamped songs, makes an album more exciting.
To anyone thinking of buying this album i would strongly advise it, perfect for a Christmas present, and is suitable for all ages. Not only that i guarentee ...

...red hot! This is a live recording from one of the June live shows in Hyde Park. It includes 2 never before heard tracks, one of which is black cross, which is more nirvana-like than their other hits. Though a live album, there is not a particularly noticeable decrease in sound quality. The only bad bit, though it isn’t that bad and may have been intended, is an unusually high distortion level on the electric guitars in Black Cross. The great thing ... ...songs are on it. Advantages: very good value for money, great songs, old, new, and covered Disadvantages: none at all
...advantage of the tracks being live ,is that there's always something different about the songs compared to the original track. For instance, during solos, flea and john will improvise and it sounds incredible! This album is good, as it allows people like me, who couldn't get tickets to the shows, to hear what everyone heard when they were there. It makes me feel like i am actually there.
There are a total of 26 songs, which is over 2 hours of playing ... ...a CD booklet which includes live photos of the band members at hyde park. Also, on this album, i especially love the new tracks; they are outstanding. If that's the sound of things to come, then i think the next album will be truly stunning.
Here is the tracklisting
Disc 1 intro (cover, originally by joy division) can't stop around the world scar tissue by the way fortune faded i feel love (cover, originally by donna summer) otherside easily universily ...

Advantages: Homage to their hits Disadvantages: I want more
...added bonus is that it's live at one of their biggest gigs in the UK for a while!!!
The band on tour are explosive. Lots of their new songs such as Zephyr and Can't Stop seem to blind people to their previous masterworks. But this is an awesome collection of some of the best ever. Featuring the ballads Scar Tissue and Otherside, it really is a collateral of colour, (if that makes sense), with some heavier, guitar-pumped tunes like Universally Speaking, ... ...here too, the very interesting and almost out of character Drum Homage Medley, and the Fleas Trumpet Treated track by John. These are a further insight into the progressive artistry and experise of such a great band, proving that even after so many years on the road, these guys are still getting started!!
If you like your music dirty, rockin and love guitar ad libs, give this a go Universally Speaking. Riffs, Raff and Funk make this a glorious 2 ...

...to visit one of the live shows at which the album was recorded, I was eagerly anticipating the release of album. Right from the off, the Red Hot Chili Peppers showcase their abundance of talent from the superb intro leading on to Can't Stop right until the last track on the disk, which incidentally is a brand new song titled 'Rolling Sly Stone' The second disk didn't let me down either, containing another new song, titles 'leverage of space' and ... ...Away' preformed flawlessly. I honestly could not ask for a better album. I sat in awe from the second I began listened to the CD right until the end of the second disk.
