Album Notes: Personnel: Dale Watson (vocals, guitar); Hank Williams III (vocals); Ricky Davis (steel guitar, background vocals); Billy Dee Donahue (bass, background vocals); Scott Matthews (drums). Recorded at The Borderline, London, England on August 7-8, 2000.
Advantages: Some fantastic songs that benefitted from a live atmosphere. Disadvantages: Some tracks didn't work vocally, a little Beatle bias.
...You would have to have livedin a cave over the past forty odd years not to have heard of Paul McCartney; in spite of his now ex-wife's original claim that she'd never heard of the fab four before she met the man himself (yeah, right), most people left on the planet may wish to rekindle memories of years gone by, or even discover them for the first time.
The purpose of the Paul McCartney 'Back in the World' Live CD was obviously to take the joy of seeing the ex-Beatle live into the home of many more people who may not be able to folk out £50 to £60 for a concert ticket. This two disk set, as it conveniently points out on the front, contains 36 tracks by the man himself, chronicling his time in the world's biggest band ever to his time in Wings and even his extensive solo career. I'm not saying that it wasn't realised in order to earn...

...MoscowThis is the first album from the current and longest lasting line up in Heep's storied history. It is also one of the most important live recordings in Rock history for the concerts that this album is taken from were the first ever concerts by a Western rock band in the old Soviet Union. Over ten nights, Heep played to 180,000 Russians! (for more details, read the reissue liner notes).
I remember when I first found this on cassette and listened in the car for the first time. It blew me away how well Bernie could handle David Byron's old songs. After listening to this and Spellbinder, I'm convinced that Bernie performs the Byron-era songs better than any other Heep vocalist since David.
The band also plays very well, especially Trevor and Lee, who play off each other almost instinctively. The harmony vocals are very tight, some...

Advantages: Lagwagon at their best Disadvantages: Slightly repetitive
...Southern California's Lagwagon formed in 1990, originally under the name Section 8 and boasts the fact that the band was the first to be signed to the now famous Fat Wreck label, debuting with Duh in 1992. Despite early changes to the line-up, currently Lagwagon stand as five; Joey (vocals); Flip (guitar); Jesse (bass); Leon (guitar); Dave (drums). Their so-cal brand of punk rock continues to be the inspiration for kids today, or at least inspired from bands who themselves were impressed with Lagwagon years ago. It is ironic that Fat Wreck chose Hollywood as the location for their next instalment of the Livein a Dive series, the 7th to be exact. More appropriately, however, may be Lagwagon as the label's choice to play that venue, a band befitting of any venue, anywhere in the world.
Having seen Lagwagon live, having been...
