him is arguably his best group since those far away days with Django Reinhardt. There are many reasons for this. The band had been playing together for over two years at the time of this recording, which is the only recording ever made of this group.
Advantages: ok recording quality of an ok gig Disadvantages: better to watch the dvd, but it's not Iggy at his best.
It's cheap and cheerful, but frankly not very good.
Iggy Pop was not, let's be honest, in the best of shape in 1981. This album was recorded at the end of a long bout of touring in support of one of his least loved albums - Party.
Now Iggy is usually worth seeing in concert and this album is actually the soundtrack of a home video / DVD which is still available. The film shows a rather inebriated Iggy giving a half-hearted performance with only flashes of his usual brilliance. The fact that he's wearing suspenders and stockings adds to the uneasiness. But at least it makes the film worth seeing.
The CD, on the other hand, just come across as half-cocked. The band aren't bad, but aren't especially impressive either (despite the presence of Bowi'e guitar player Carlos Alomar) and iggy's half mumbled half shouted vocals just sound bad ...
Advantages: Got to see alot in a short space of time Disadvantages: Slightly expensive. Mostly on the bus
Gray Line SanFrancisco Sightseeing

We booked out tour in out hotel, which included a transfer bus to our tour. The tour started in Fisherman's Wharf, which we drove through seeing the unique little restaurants, which was buzzing with people. Then we drove through Chinatown and the financial district.
A short stop at Mission Dolores was next where we stopped for food. It was a Catholic mission church, which you ...
Advantages: Cheap, clean and location, location, location! Disadvantages: old-fashioned, elevator from hell
In 2007-2008 I livedinSanFrancisco for work for 4.5 months. The first two week I spent in the Dakota Hotel, in search for a spot of my own.
Dakota hotel caught my eye for a number of reasons: the price and the location. Normally, you'd have to rob a bank or two to stay in a hotel in the heart of SanFrancisco for two weeks. Luckily, Dakota offered an attractive rate for long-term stays. I thought it would certainly be worth a look, given it's excellent location.
Location
You see, location is undoubtedly one of Dakto Hotels strongest points. This hotel is situated on 606 Post Street, approximately 2 blocks from Union Square. In the street itself, there are a number of restaurants and a small supermarket.
The hotel is on the edge of what are considered to be the good neighbourhoods inSanFrancisco. Two blocks down, you ...

Album Notes
LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO contains two albums originally released separately, LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO and THREE FOR A QUARTER, ONE FOR A DIME. Personnel: Archie Shepp (tenor saxophone, piano); Roswell Rudd (trombone); Donald Garrett, Lewis Worrell (bass); Beaver Harris (drums). Producer: Bob Thiele. Reissue producer: Michael Cuscuna. Recorded at the Both/And Club, San Francisco, California on Febrary 19, 1966. Includes liner notes by Patricia Willard. Digitally remastered by Erick Labson. This is part of Impulse's The New Thing series. Archie Shepp's dynamic, Ben Webster-derived tenor sound greatly benefits from the added presence new remastering technology makes possible. This is especially apparent while listening to this great live set from Shepp's regular group from 1966. One can hear in fine detail every sinewy twist and turn as he tears into an Ellington ballad like "In A Sentimental Mood," or ferociously sustains a long, fiery ramble through one of his own bluesy originals. There is enough variety in the featured material--the aforementioned Ellington cover, a lush piano exploration from Shepp called "Sylvia," even a short original poem read by the leader--that listener interest should never flag. Special mention should go to drummer Beaver Harris who keeps a tight, funky hold on the proceedings and to the great free-jazz cum Dixieland trombonist Roswell Rudd. Extra bonus on this CD reissue: another Ellington composition, "Things Ain't What They Used To Be," plus the complete album THREE FOR A QUARTER, ONE FOR A DIME, 30 minutes plus of gritty polyphony from the Shepp ensemble, dedicated to none other than James Brown.
