Advantages: A great varied mixture of live tracks Disadvantages: Not all the favourites are included
...I have been an avid whitesnake fan for several years and although I have only seen them live once, I can honestly say that this album captures the ambience and atmosphere of a hard-rocking whitesnake gig completely.
I paid £8.99 for this album from MVC and definately consider that to be money well spent. The tracks included beautifully show off the flair and classic rocking sound of whitesnake before they moved to hard-rock/heavy-metal midway through the 80s. Micky Moody's flowing guitar licks and David Coverdale's growling unique vocals dominate the entire album. Also, the blues-rock influences are evident in both Moody and rythym guitarist, Bernie Marsden's, playing styles, this provides a definate contrast to the chugging and screaming metal action provided by guitarists such as Steve Vai and Adrian Vandenbourg, on later albums...

...Depending on your age , you will have one of two images come to mind when you hear the name Whitesnake. There was a "hair band" in the late 80s, all glam clothing, leather trews, "widdley widdley "guitar solos, big perms and glossy, over produced music. The band arose out of the ashes of Deep Purple, singer David Coverdale and Keyboardist Jon Lord were joined by stalwarts of the British blues-rock scene. Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody covered guitar duties and Neil Murray and Duck Dowle took on bass and dums respectively. There was alway quite a blues edge to some of the Deep Purple material, especially...

Advantages: Contains a vast diversity of music from David Coverdale's post Deep Purple carrier Disadvantages: Nothing, unless you hate Whitesnake (and if you did you wouldn't be reading this)
...Whitesnakes 30th Anniversary Collection appears to be a glorified greatest hit album. However it's more than this. Its 52 tracks contain live tracks, the original version of Here I Go Again, songs from David Coverdale's (DC's) album with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and of course songs from DC's solo work. The three CD's cover the carrier of DC after he left Deep Purple.
The first disc with tracks like Ready An' Willing and Fool For Your Loving (live) brings Whitesnakesblues element through to the listener beautifully. I would say the first disc is best of Whitesnakesblues.
The second CD contains the Coverdale Page songs as well as more live songs and a collection of Whitesnake hits. The third CD contains the song Best Years from Whitesnakes latest album and We Wish You Well the song Whitesnake wrote for their audiences but have...
