I absolutely love Jo Whileys show on radio 1 so this CD was a must for me, and my god it was worth EVERY penny! It's so difficult to find a cd out at the moment which is original, but this is it!

one thing right through their commitment to live music--particularly with regards to the often quirky fruits that tumble forth from its Live Lounge. Volume 3 of the double CD collections from these sessions arrives packed with more than enough in the way of gems to offset the few inevitable run-of-the-mill single performances. Those justifying the format when modifying their own tracks include Kasabian working "Sympathy for the Devil" into "LSF", Duffy bringing some grit to a stripped down "Mercy", absent as shes trotted it out endlessly elsewhere, and a bare, emotional "Daddys Gone" from Glasvegas. The real value of the set though is found in amongst Girls Alouds sensitive version of "With Every Heartbeat" (originally by Robyn), Ida Marias feisty "Sweet About Me" (Gabriella Cilmi), REM sketching "Munich" (Editors) out with mandolin refinement, Kate Nash absolutely owning a cute, giddy "Fluorescent Adolescent" (Arctic Monkeys), Goldfrapps haunting "Its Not Over Yet" (Grace--made famous again by Klaxons), Santogolds paranoid and chilling take on "Hometown Glory" (Adele) and Bat for Lashes pulsing, minimalist "Sweet Dreams" (Eurhythmics). If youre looking for one single convincing reason to own this though, look no further than Dizzee Rascals bench-press solid, somersault swaggering, air-punching attitude-laden re-jigging of the Ting Tings "Thats Not My Name". Its enough to justify the licence fee. --James Berry

Advantages: Different to most other cd's about at the minute Disadvantages: Lemon Jelly...Just weird!
...of the best of the Live Lounge, which is a section of Jo's show where she invites music stars into her studio to perform live, usually also covering a track of their choice!
The track listing on Ciao is wrong, heres the correct one:
Track Listing CD1:
Foo Fighters - DOA
Arctic Monkeys - Love Machine
Snow Patrol - Run
The Kooks - Crazy
Razorlight - Golden Touch
Corinne Bailey Rae - Munich ...other tracks are all just live performances of the artists own songs, those particularly worth a mention are Oasis's Songbird, which really showcases Liam's vocal abilities, Lily Allen's Smile, that girl can do no wrong in my eyes, a complete musical genius and Dizzee Rascal who's performance is completely breathtaking, if you close your eyes this cd makes him soundlike he's in the room with you.

Often you hear singers covering tracks and literally just copying the original artists note for note, but this CD showcases many covers all with their own added twists. Standing out on this compilation inparticular Keane's cover of U2's classic, With or Without You, a really moving performance, sounding slightly like a young Rod Stewart. Corrine Bailey Rae's cover of Munich is AMAZING to say the least, she really adds soul to the song and it sounds magical Natasha Bedingfield hsa covered Coldplay's Scientist on this CD, I loved this song originally and was a bit concerned when I saw she'd covered it as I don't usually like her, but if anything this cover is better than the original. All the other covers are also brilliant, the only one which I didn't think was quite up to it was The Automatic's cover of Goldigger, whilst I can't describe what I don't like about this cover there's just something there which doesn't work. The other tracks are all just live performances of the artists own songs, those particularly worth a mention are Oasis's Songbird, which really showcases Liam's vocal abilities, Lily Allen's Smile, that girl can do no wrong in my eyes, a complete musical genius and Dizzee Rascal who's performance is completely breathtaking, if you close your eyes this cd makes him soundlike he's in the room with you. There's not often that I buy a cd that I like most of the tracks on, I usually find a few to skip, but there's only one on this CD and thats Lemon Jelly, they are just downright weird sounding and I think there track shouldn't have been on the CD. Listening to Jo Whiley alot I know there are other artist's who could have been put on the CD in their place to make it truely perfect!
Advantages: Great highly playable CD Disadvantages: Bad selection of some tracks, and often difficult to get hold of.
Ahhh a new CD it must be Christmas!!! Having waited an eternity for the LiveLounge CD I finally cancelled my online order and headed off to HMV. I’m rather pleased with the music scene at present after what seems like a decade of rap crap and R & B it appears someone has come along and said “people actually like to sing along to music”. So we now have a series of rather talented musical artists.
My quest for the LiveLounge CD began after hearing the Sugababes version of “I bet that you look good on the dance floor” a song by the Arctic Monkeys. I was not overly taken by the Artic Monkeys version but was most impressed with the Sugababes version. And that’s where it all started, now 4 months on I’m finally in possession of the CD having had it on order at two major online retailers since ...
Advantages: Wide variety of songs Disadvantages: I wanted more covers then there were
I really do love this album!! I always enjoyed listening to the livelounge on radio one and was very excited to hear they were releasing an album of them. I love hearing different bands and singers singing someones elses song with their own twist. It refreshes the song and most of the time I love it more then the original!
It also has live acts of artists singing their own songs ~ some old and some newer. All very enjoyable. Makes you realise that people in the music business can actually sing and they dont just sound like some hi-tech computer can make them sound!!
Two CDs gives you a lot to listen too, although leaves you wanting to hear more. As all good cds should!! ...
Advantages: Some great cover versions Disadvantages: A few duds
I have always been a fan of the Radio 1 LiveLounge, sometimes it can be a bit hit and miss but I enjoy listening to bands doing a more acoustic version of their hits and some of the cover versions they do are really good. The basic format is that each band does one of their own songs and one cover song live in the studio.
This album is a double album with 20 tracks on each CD and features selection of songs, some of them covers and some the bands originals and it is quite an eclectic mix with some quite unusual songs.
Perhaps my favourite has to be the Arctic Monkeys cover of the Girls Aloud hit Lovemachine which with the frenetic guitar riffs and strong Yorkshire accent of the boys works really well. The Coldpay song The Scientist provides a strong opening to CD2 and s followed up by an acoustic version of Smile by Lilly Allen ...
