Advantages: Good for people cutting back who live in a City
Disadvantages: No help to people who are already seriously Frugal.

I was bought this book by my parents for Christmas last year, after hearing snippets of her on the TV and reading about her in the news papers I was pretty excited to read the book and found out how she did it. £1 a day? For a year? I mean, that's pretty got to be inspirational! The book starts with Kath Kelly complaining to her friends how she has no money, and desperate to get her brother a unique wedding present she declares she'll live on £1 a day for a year to do it. Of course, it's not really £1 a day. It's £1 a day 'spends' after paying all her bills. Not all that inspirational afterall, as a frequent visitor to the money saving forum you come across people in completely dire situations who barely have two 1p coins to rub together, yet still manage. Xbox live

Advantages: Online gaming, good value, networking
Disadvantages: Some lag, temptation to spend more money on extras

Xbox Live is good value compared to some other online subscriptions e.g. World of Warcradt or Everquest as with these you pay everymonth just for one game, whereas with xbox live you only pay once to go online with pretty much all your games. You then get tempted, however, to pay for extra online contect such as extra levels, characters, backdrops for your xbox live dashboard, arcade games etc. etc. So it's never as cheap as it seems! The service on xbox live is good and it's rare to have connection issues so gameplat online tends to be smooth. Occasionally you may shoot at someone only to find they already moved- lag is rare but does happen and can be annoying. The range of games that can be played online is excellent, and isn't just shooting and fighting! Guitar hero plays online brilliantly with options for guitar battles ...

The Year Of Living Langourously

Advantages: Makes 2007 look like 2005
Disadvantages: It's gone - who cares?

I don't keep a diary, so cataloging my 2006 will be difficult, at least to keep it in any form of order. However, I DO remember that there were no big changes to my life. I didn't change jobs, partners or houses. In view of the stress caused by these 'big three', I guess I can count myself lucky. I did however do quite a lot of the so-called travelling for pleasure - what an oxymoron that turned out to be. Don't get me wrong, I love going to other places and soaking up the atmosphere of 'being there', the eating out, the people watching and exploring road systems that are as yet un-crowded. I just don't want to 'travel' to get there, if you catch my drift. 2006 is the year that really brought home to me the nonsense that is air travel.
