Comin' Home to the Blues

Advantages: Every one you can think of
Disadvantages: none

the blues is all about. Love, hate, pathos, hope, despair with some fantastic blues and blues slide guitar technique. The next track, I'm a Man by Bo Didley is interesting. It is still obviously The Blues, yet it is Chicago Blues, vastly different from the Delta Blues that Howlin' Wolf is such a fine exponent of. However, one thing you must realise about Bo Didley is that although Bo Didley performs in the Chicargo Blues idiom, Bo Didley is, first and foremost, Bo Didley. When they made Bo Didley, they broke the mould. His style is truly unique. Apparently even to the extent of making his own guitar effects such as a wah wah unit from an old alarm clock before the wah wah unit was heard of. The songs are not politically correct. But then, they reflect the harsh reality of lives gone bad. Your Funeral and My Trial sung by Sonny Boy ...

Radio One live Lounge - So Original

Advantages: Original, something for everyone
Disadvantages: None

I recieved the first album way overdue no less than two months ago. and i loved it. every track infact. so with Radio ones live lounge being one of my faviroute albums i was excited to hear that live lounge two was out aswell.I cant stop listening to it. every track on there is so original, if its not a song performed by a different artist its the artists song but done with an acoustic guitar making it simple but in some cases better than the original ? complicated ? It doesnt matter whether you hate pop beceause theyll be a rock/indie band covering the song and vice versa. its a breath of fresh air. my faviourte track being the girls - calvin harriss. hated the original dance like song but love this as it is an acoustic cover and more to my taste. a must have for all music lovers. ...

Review of Radio 1's Live Lounge Vol.2 - Various Artists

The Return Of The Live Lounge- Volume 2

Advantages: Loads Of Great tracks! Youll find yourself enjoying songs you hated
Disadvantages: Some obscure artist that you may not know

I recently borrowed this CD off a friend after seeing adverts for it on the TV, and after hearing the 1st album I thought there is no way the second one could be better. However I think I was proved wrong. It has some brilliant cover tracks on it, sung by some of the people you would least expect. Some of the tracks performed with an acoustic guitar somehow sound much better than the originals! The tracks all come from Jo Whiley's live lounge (she's a Dj at Radio 1 for anyone that didn't know!) It's a great CD where else would you hear Maximo Park singing 500 miles! (Originally by the Proclaimers) or The Enemy covering Madonna's hit Hung Up. I can guarantee that you will find yourself enjoying songs that you have previously hated! I know I did! Even if you do not know some of the artist on the CD it doesn't mean they wont be good ...
