Advantages: Alto saxophony at it's best. Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste.
...~~~ArtPepper~~~
Continuing on a theme of Saxophone players that I have been reviewing and their albums, it is time for ArtPepper, well specifically the ArtPepper Quartet.
Whilst an all time great Alto Saxophonist, it is true to say that Art never got the exposure or accolades that people like Charlie Parker got. Similarily to Parker, he started playing in the 40's, he also had a heroin addiction, though unlike Parker, Pepperlived until he was nearly 60, still no great age.
He was a 'tight' player that seemed to appreciate precision and getting his notes crisp and clean. This was a criticism of him as he was seen to be 'detached' from his sax, not putting enough heart in, according some reviews I have read, personally I think his precision was all about heart.

...I saw the Red Hot Chili Pepperslive in Hyde Park, London in June 2004.
It was supported by Chicks on Speed and James Brown, while they were on it rained!!
As soon as the Chilis got on stage it was blazing hot sunshine!
We were right near the front, it was amazing, i got the best photos ever and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
Buying this album twice, one for the car, one for the house proves im a fan!
Every time i close my eyes when listening to this cd i can feel the hot sunshine, hear the chorus of the crowds and go back there once again!
I especially love the cover which show Anthony Kiedis' Tattoos!!!
So.....if you loved the concert and want to relive it every day then buy this album, full of all their old classics, a great funky album.
This is a 2 disc set with newer modern stuff too.
One awesome album :-)...

Advantages: production, experimentation and creativity Disadvantages: not a sitar fan
...Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the eighth album released by The Beatles. It was released on 1st June 1967 and it’s 40th anniversary will soon be marked by a covers album recorded by various current recording artists.
The impact this album has had on music over the last 40 years cannot be overstated. Listening to it today it still sounds like it could have been released this year. The production techniques and quality are immense and cannot be matched. It’s closest rival of the time comes from The Beach Boys (or Brian Wilson’s….) Pet Sounds.
This record defines modern music, across all guitar-based genres. It is sheer art.
Over the years there has been much debate over what are considered drug references, but if you ask me that is irrelevant, it’s a ground-breaking piece of creativity and musical expression. Much...
