Album Reviews: Entertainment Weekly (11/8/02, p.134) - "...Minnelli hasn't sounded this good in years..." - Rating: B
Advantages: Lots of up-tempo music Disadvantages: Sounds too much like a solo Minnelli album
...The Act is a musical by my favourite Broadway team of songwriters, John Kander and Fred Ebb, and yet I always find it a little disappointing. Famous for writing Cabaret, Chicago and New York, New York, the two of them supplied a series of star turns for LizaMinnelli, as a nightclub star, and hence the C sounds very much like a Liza album, with a couple of other tracks thrown in.
The songs aren't bad, and some of them are rather good indeed. 'Arthur in the Afternoon'. for example, is top notch comedy, delivered perfectly by Liza, and the number sung by the chorus members (presumably while Liza had forty winks to get her breath back), 'Little Do They Know', works very well as an insiders view of being a Broadway-type dancer. There is also a lovely ballad called 'My Own Space', which Minnelli carries off fairly well.

Advantages: Amazing music Disadvantages: There won't be anymore of it
.... It's a quiet, soulful tune, there is no urge here to jump up and start dancing! Well, you'd look a tad odd…
10, I've Got the World on a String with LizaMinnelli.
This track reminds me most of Broadway, and an exciting musical. But then, Broadway is all about happiness and splendour, and this piece oozes this! You can just picture the dancers with their canes ,top hats and tails, it really is a showbiz piece. Liza's voice works well for this, and the orchestra is fantastic! I can just picture the music overture scene to this…
11. Witchcraft with Anita Baker.
This piece has a very melancholy opening with some swooning strings, and then it launches into a cheerful swing piece. It's another classic old time jazz piece, with lots of brass fills and the long notes of the backing strings. The lyrics are pretty good to listen to, too...

Advantages: Well, its Queen, and their Greatest hits are on it.. Disadvantages: Their worst track is also on it, taking a valueable space.
...was not there to see his legacy, selling over 300 million copies. A tribute concert, which took place at Wembley Stadium for an audience of 72,000, featured a wide variety of guests including Elton John, Metallica, David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Guns N' Roses, Elizabeth Taylor, George Michael, Def Leppard and LizaMinnelli. The concert was broadcast live to 76 countries and had an estimated viewing audience of 1 billion people. That means 1 out of 5.4 people was watching, and then I am including the people that did not know him, did not have television or did not live in a country where it was broadcasted, safe to say that 25% of the people that could watch it did so.
-Brian May- (Lead Guitar)
Brian Harold May, who was born on the 19th of July 1947 in Hampton, was and to my EXTREME annoyance still is the lead guitarist of Queen. He went to Hampton school...
