With the exception of one or two songs, metallica have consistently produced fantastic albums. How ever, with Load, it simply is thier best yet. I do not think that there is one song on it that i do not like. From the opening sone right through to the final song The outlaw torn, this album rocks.
King nothing, the fifth track has to be one of thier real classics. It starts off with Kirk Hammett playing a real simple riff that repeats for ages, yet is mesmeric, the song rips through some great guitar work, long live Kirk.
What could I say about the next track, what must be one of my favorite tracks by Metallica of all time "Hero of the day" This is a song that starts off life as a nice balad, but then turns into a real rip roarer of a song. The album contines with other good songs untill it gets to "Thorne within" Again, this is one that will stand the test of time. If you like Metallica, then your love Load.

I love Load but something you say is not true: most Metallica fans consider Load to be their worst album.

I agree, Metallica may sound a little different now than from, say Master of Puppets. But people should except that "there's no rear view mirror in the Metallica waggon" (as James said in a recent interview). And that they can put their hand to many typres of hard rock/metal.

Advantages: Hmmm...If you like grunge, country or pop punk, there may be one or two good songs on it. Disadvantages: Ermm...how long have you got? Turgid, MTV friendly pop rubbish.
