Advantages: some pretty faces in the film Disadvantages: poor acting, easy to guess who the killer is
Ok I guess I must have been really bored to have sat through this film recently. I had heard of it before watching it and had not a good impression of it. I?m not a fan of horror films at all but was told that it wasn?t really scary and that I would have to see it to believe how bad it was.
STORY (what little there is...)
The film starts with us seeing Jeremy, a teenager who?s a bit of a geek, asking various girls to dance with him at the high school Valentine Ball and being cruelly rejected by all of them bar one, Dorothy, who is slightly chubby (but this is USA slightly chubby means she?s seen by all as really fat), who goes under the stage and has a bit of a kissing session with him till some other kids see them and she claims he forced himself on her. The other mean kids pour some gunk all over him and you realise this is ...

Advantages: So well written, enjoyable, a great book Disadvantages: None
the perfect hero! Other characters pop up and are so brilliantly realistic, you can see them clearly in your mind!
'Valentine' is a book that takes you on the journey of one woman, but it really is so much more than that. The book covers lot of issues within, I can't really discuss them too much here because I will give away plot spoilers, but I enjoyed the serious issues being intertwined with the comedy and perils of Valentine's love life. Scenes in Valentine's local off-licence were hilarious and I did find my giggling out loud! Farnworth has a real talent for writing fantastic characters that a reader will care about, and consequently I just could not put this book down. I was desperate to find out how things were going to end for all the stars of this book, and Farnworth really delivers on all counts for me.
Love is something that ...

the right person for the part.
I started with Valentin because he really makes this movie, (or as it says in the awful trailer, 'by changing his life, he also touches others', living up fully to the role of his patron saint) but I guess I should have set the scene a little more. 1969, according to Agresti, was a pivotal year, after which nothing would ever be the same. The moon landing and the sexual revolution are just two examples of this profound change. This is even truer in Argentina, a country about to enter the darkest period of its history. The film is not about that at all, but you do get a sense of nostalgia permeating throughout. It is particularly noticeable in the colours scheme, halfway between sepia and pastels. It reminded me somewhat of Amelie. The period detail is also very accurate (as far as I remember, as I was 3 ...
