Advantages: I learned something new Disadvantages: Too many pointless characters, plot loses its way
clutching what appears to be a scrap of cloth from a submariner's uniform. With the locals already demoralised by the apparent ineffectiveness of the British forces, Max is afraid of the backlash that might ensue if it was made known that a British serviceman was killing Maltese women and he decides to investigate the matter himself.
The book jacket blurb for "TheInformation Officer" would suggest you shelved this under crime fiction but this is not only misleading but likely to disappoint many readers. The basic premise - that a serviceman is killing local women and must be stopped - makes for a good story but it gets lost in too many other things. I got the impression that the author either didn't know what he wanted to the book to be or that perhaps he forgot he was writing a whodunit and allowed his other ideas to take over.

Advantages: Short, sharp and an old fashioned chilling horror! Disadvantages: The acting is not terrific
?They?re dying to meet you?
The Locals is a low budget horror flick from New Zealand, home of many a top quality film like?? um well like I guess the early films of Peter Jackson! New Zealand isn?t well known for its film making production after all. *Please note ? this is a review of the restaurant part of the hotel*
A few weeks ago Mr Tart and myself headed to his parents? for a family gathering. We were all going out for a posh meal on the Sunday and the French Horn was chosen as the location for the event.
LOCATION:
The French Horn is in Sonning-on-Thames. Sonning is not a big place and the restaurant is on the main road so you can?t miss it (sorry I can?t be more specific ? it doesn?t even give a road name on the website!). It?s not the easiest place to get to as the approaches are all through small, busy roads. There is plenty of parking in the French Horn?s car park opposite the restaurant. The restaurant?s location is what really makes it. It is right on the Thames with the gardens leading down to the river. We went on a beautiful sunny day and the setting ...
