The new album from the FLC, Loco, comes with a few surprises. Firstly don't be expecting the album to sound just like the other two albums - there's a definite development of style here. They've experimented more and brought in some of their previously unused influences too. That said, I don't ... Read review

...first single from the album) Loco then smoothly chills things out and gets you back on steady ground. A bit of a theme song - expect it to be everywhere sooner or later. The Biz opens with what I can only describe as slurry rap (sounds a bit like it was recorded following Huey doing some wine tasting for his column in 'Mondo'). If you heard this song live on TFI you already know what to expect - however the album version definitely has a rougher ... ...Huey sings, “nothings for free”. Run Daddy Run sounds typically FLC (if there is such a thing) with lyrics along the lines of "you got a spliff in your mouth, you gotta light it up" and includes a nice bit of scratching half way through. Things then get really laid back with Huey just Half A Block away from salvation/redemption and he'll "be damned if he can make it that far" - a nice tune for smoking! Swashbucklin' In Brooklyn livens things up and ...

A new direction Review ofLoco - Fun Lovin' Criminalsby
yhwman
Advantages: A new sound Disadvantages: One bad track
...Anyway, before I deal with Loco a brief history of the Fun Lovin’ Criminals for those unfamiliar with their music.
The first album, Come Find Yourself is best described as Gangster Rock, mixing hip-hop, lounge, rap and rock. The album spawned the hits “Scooby Snacks”, “The Fun Lovin’ Criminal” and “The King of New York”. Their second album, 100% Colombian altered the mix by removing most of the rock ... ...Come Find Yourself we have Loco continuing the development of the band in a fairly logical direction. The main ingredient to the sound remains the same as 100% Colombian, however it’s lounge with a very sharp twist. There are lots of strange lilting melodies floating round the songs, it sounds like FLC have been listening to Beck, and maybe even Eden’s Plot (www.mp3.com/edensplot). Rock also makes a mild comeback, especially on the first ...

When I got home, it was time to listen to Chris Moyles, so the album went on the back burner a bit... then before I knew it, the football was on... But eventually I was surfing the .net and listening to FLC's latest album Loco.
I was pleasantly surprised... The FLC sound has slightly changed, there is an eclectic mix of styles and flavours on the album - almost as much as there are on Wyclef's latest ...

FLC do it again Review ofLoco - Fun Lovin' Criminalsby
messsingh
Advantages: Laid back listening Disadvantages: I borrowed it from a friend, because I was just interested. I wouldn't but it although it is good. I'm not really into this music.
Never before has a collection of plastic gangsters come across as laid back people more interested in chilling than robbing banks!
And thankfully the Fun Lovin Criminals have allowed us into this lounging vibe that is simply irresistable to the ears.
After the mixed reviews of their last album, the FLC's have reverted back to the coolness they bathed in on previous albums and have reproduced their unique brand of funky jazz rap.
But first of all ... ...The Bums Go, before you can sit back and return to the more relaxed sounds of the real deal FLC.
And they do not disappoint with tracks such as the lounging Loco, the comical rhymes that make-up Bump, the scratchy guitars and latin beats of Underground and gangster fantasies of There Was A Time.
Huey and the lads really are back on form and this collection of cool, chilled out tunes just makes for great fun and excellent listening. ...

Loco is the Fun Lovin Criminals' third real album and certainly not the best one they have produced but still a reasonable album. ...

There are several tracks which are in the current Top 20 and more than a few have been recent number ones. The album is pre-dominantly pop although there are a few rock, rap, soul tracks to add a little variety.
It is an advantage to buy a compilation album, especially with pop, because quite often when you buy an album by a solo artist/band, it is not unusual to only like one or two tracks. If the band is new,the chances are they won't even be around the next year.
Now 48 is a great CD to sing along to and have a jig about. It really raises...
