Advantages: Disadvantages:
...The band that performed the single for the hit movie "10 Things I Hate About You" are a kind of indie cross chick rock band, called "Letters To Cleo". The single is called "I Want You To Want Me" and is catchy and really does suit the overall image of the entire movie. The movie seems to portray a feeling of female independance and the soundtrack is incredibly good at getting across the point of the film. The song itself is very upbeat and has a kind of heavy feel to it, the lyrics are good and the lead singer has a terrific powerful voice that really shows throughout the song. I would encourage anyone to buy this or the whole soundtrack because it is one of the best that I have seen for a long time as it actually reflects the storyline of the movie!...

Advantages: Smart tunes with a jazz undercurrent Disadvantages: Too "modern" for jazz purists?
...will not like. Some are just straight love songs.
WHAT'S FRANK LIKE?

Funny you should ask, because I've separated out the tracks below. I've marked the songs out of five and also given a "jazzy" content mark in case you're not a fan of jazz and start having panic attacks.

Not a good start to the album, or so I thought. A mild CleoLaine "skoo-be-do"-type acapella scat kicks the album off and I was very tempted to press eject right there and then. But 20 seconds in a half hearted hip hop beat revved up and I was made to eat my words. Her vocals, coupled with a great trombone backing are both in your face and lazy. And one point her vocals actually pout and you barely understand her words. Released as a single.
Song: 4/5
Jazziness: 3...

...I first bought this soundtrack after watching the film.
I have one word for 2 hours of Heath Ledger :
DROOL.
The music on the CD is truly inspirational, with stunning tracks form Madness, Letters to Cleo, The Cardigans, Brick, Semisonic, Joan Armatrading and many more fantastic artist's.
Sister Hazels 'Your Winter' is beautifully composed and sung, and I got shivers down my spine when i first heard it (and about 10 times after). I can listen to the song over and over and still be mezmorized by the lyrical and rhythmic power of this song.
Jessica Riddles 'Even Angels Fall' although not my normal musical prefrence is still one fo my favourite trakcs fomr the album.
Although I had never heard of them, Letter to Cleo have a exceptioanl style and I personally love their approach.
I would definatley recommend this album to anyone who enjoys...
