Advantages: Tuneful,classic pop-rock,best of the 90s.Lyrically,musically and vocally chairming and catchy Disadvantages: If you dont like pop/rock then you might not enjoy this blast from the past.
Right so today I am really on one with bands/albums ranging from the mid 80s to the late 90s and seeing as I am, what sort of reviewer would I be if I didn't at least give a quick mention to Texas?
Southside by Texas is one of their most acclaimed albums. Released in 1995 with timeless classics like 'I dont want a lover', the album still rings true with audiences today.
Although they have taken their name from an american state, they are essentially a Scottish pop/rock band. Their music does seem to adopt some of the texan stealy guitar sound and although singer and rhythm guiatris Sharleen Spiter has a lovely Scottish accent, she sings with an american accent (which is a shame but common of the era).

I first watched Paris Texas back in 1986, on its British TV premier as part of the Channel IV ?Film On Four? series, and from the very first frame of Travis (Harry Dean-Stanton) walking alone in the searing sun through the desert, my attention was captured. So Hallowe'en night, the obligatory somewhat pathetic partying has ended it's about 1o'clock in the morning so decide to put this on and live the Hallowe'en atmosphere.
THE STORY
It's 1973 and the film starts with a filmed walk through of the crime scene of the Chainsaw Massacre and before it can really get started we are thrown towards the past and 5 young people coming back from partying in Mexico to go see a Lynrd Skynrd concert somewhere in Texas, when suddenly they meet a young female hitch hiker who keeps crying and is more than abit erratic. They pick her up and start driving in the direction she came from which made little sense to me but hey.
