Advantages: Fantastic music at a low price Disadvantages: Prepare to cry
...are reached cheerfully and with ease - you can positively hear the smile in his voice - it’s so obvious he enjoys singing this song!
A catchy little tune to tap your feet too.
11: ONLY THE LONELY (KNOW THE WAY I FEEL) 2.24
(Orbison, Melson)
We are greeted with male angels ‘dum dum dum dumby doo wah’ing the introduction to this song. RoyOrbison comes straight in over the top of the deceptively cheery orchestra, with a vocal assault on your senses. Switching from soaring high notes accompanied by flattering strings to falling low notes in an impossibly short space of time.
He tells how only the lonely know the way he is feeling, and only the lonely know the feeling aint right.
This is the story of his girl leaving and how he cries with the loneliness and sorrow. How he hopes for a new romance to end his sorrow and mend his heart...

....Released in 1963. By all accounts, Orbison was a bit shocked to see the film 'Blue Velvet' and the drug association but came to appreciate the hidden depths of the words he had written.
5. Crying - Orbison, Roy & k.d. Lang - Not a great fan of this version from the eighties. Sung in true Orbison style. It is based on a true story of a breakup Roy had had.
6. Blue angel - Lots of La la la's and Doo wahs and Sha la la's. Again nice and smooth. Released in 1960 and rerecorded in 1985.
7. Working for the man - A bit more up tempo but not really my cup of tea. Still, another great track to drive to if feeling jaded. - Taken from Roys true experiences at working to help his way through college.
Page Five and Six
8. Running scared - ' Songs like 'Running Scared' were written because I wasnt aware of limitations'.
9. She's a mystery to me...

Advantages: The Very Best Of The Big O Disadvantages: I had to review 41 Songs... phew
...Everyone knows Pretty Woman, most have heard of Only The Lonely, a lot of people recognise I Drove All Night, the one with Jason Priestley in the video and any fan of Only Fools And Horses knows Crying is the song that the guy who can't pronounce his R's right sang to hilarious effect. Cwying, Cwying, Cwyyyyyying….you remember it I'm sure. But if you are not of a certain age you probably don't know a lot of Roy's stuff. Not many of my friends were familiar with him, a lot even laughed when they saw I had bought this CD but when they got to hear a few of the songs, their appreciation rose until I was getting pestered for copies. I guess it's because he's a golden oldie that most young people pass him by so lightly, he hasn't the protest cool of Bob Dylan or the iconic image of David Bowie but after many drunken renditions of I Drove All...
