Long Distance was the second Runrig album I ever got, and I was only about 8 when I got it...I've been raised on this sort of music! But, in all honesty, Long Distance is my favourite of Runrig. Some of their albums have songs which don't have that inspirational or enthusiastic feeling. Long Distance is, as it says, the best of Runrig, and so they've only included the best. Certainly a good album to listen to on long drives, or in the evenings. Relaxing celtic music, mostly in English too!
The lyrics of the songs, especially those such as Protect and Survive, are really thought provoking and, unusually for a pop band, deep. Most of them are really catchy, and if you want something more traditional, there's always Loch Lomond!
Cover etc. are pretty uninspiring but don't let that put you off. Not being a massively popular band outside of Scotland, you can always get their albums cheaply somewhere, and if you're only paying a few pounds, it's definitely a worthwhile album to buy. If not for the music, it's a talking point. I mean, most people will have the Beatles in their music collection, but how many have Runrig?

Quick run through:
Glory Road- A gentle introduction, but not the best.
Alba- Gaelic, but has a lovely soft tune.
The Greatest Flame- Slow, seductive. Typical Runrig.
Rocket to the Moon- Love it! A catchy one.
Abhainn an T-sluiagh- Gaelic also, but nice- slow, calming.
Protect and Survive- Sticks in your head, provocative.
Rhythm of my Heart- Has this not been covered by...Rod Stewart?
Hearthammer- Bit more upbeat. Not one of the top tunes.
An Ubhal as Airde- Erm...well, it's ok. I don't understand a word as it's in Gaelic, but it's still not a favourite.
Wonderful-As Hearthammer.
Mara- wonderful! Relaxing, reminds you of home...
Flower of the West- Another typical Runrig, but definitely worth a listen.
Every River- Bit different, more of a pop-rock tune. Good!
Siol Ghoraidh- Very Scottish but it's a good 'un.
Hearts of Olden Glory- Beautiful, one to cry to.
Skye- Makes you feel good! Worth listening to!
Loch Lomond- Everyone knows this one... :)
