Long Tall Sally - Little Richard

Advantages: Good album for dinner parties and cosey nights in.
Disadvantages: Lot of ballads and not enough pop if thats what your looking for.

...Many of you will already know that Kym Marsh was once 1/5th of the first ever TV Reality Pop Group Hear’Say. A lot of you will say thats all it was just some Hear’Say and after Kym left they seemed doomed. Many people often criticise Kym for her leaving the group and tell tale stories and newspapers seemed to just fuel the fires! Any wise person would however, have seen that Kym was indeed the voice that held the group together. So here we are 3 years after the band first hit the big time and left without a trace and Kym Marsh is back working solo and definitely standing tall! So what do I make of her solo attempt at making an album? I am very impressed but do feel that it could be a little stronger but first attempt I hope there more to come form this lovely lass. Advantages: It's the Beatles, previously unavailable on CDs, no bad tracks

..., and Ringo... well, I guess he was there too. "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand" is a German version of "I Want To Hold Your Hand." This was recorded in Paris, France, in January 1964, along with another German track, "Sie Liebt Dich," a.k.a. "She Loves You". These are nice to have, but I don't listen to them often. "Long Tall Sally" was originally a hit for Little Richard (who cowrote it), but the Beatles later did an amazing version of it in only one take! Paul's lead vocals on this one are some of his best, and the piano is a real highlight of the song. This is just a straight-up rock 'n' roll song that is, in my opinion, better than the original. "I Call Your Name" was written principally by John for the group Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas. Unfortunately, the Dakotas' performance of it was nothing spectacular, and it was issued as a B side... Read review

Advantages: Solo work from Kym Marsh
Disadvantages: some stuff sounds a lot like hearsay only without the other members

...start with which builds up to the chorus. I really like this song, very good. BECAUSE OF YOU This song is fairly obviously about Kym's children. I am not that struck on this song, it's fairly slow and to be honest a bit boring. Sweet she done a song for her children but not one of my faves of the album I am afraid. HERE COMES HEAVEN The last track of standing tall is a nice, easy listening kind of song which tops off the feel of the album. ****Overall**** When I think of Kym Marsh I think of the strong voice on popstars and the outspoken member of Hear'say. I always thought Kym's voice was very Strong especially in the hear'say days. I think a little bit of that sparkle has been lost on her own debut album. Like I mentioned on 'here comes heaven' it is a easy listening album overall in general. A couple of strong tracks... Read review
