Advantages: excellent performance..flawless Disadvantages: not being close enough to the front
Being a fan of UB40 since 1984 I thought it was about time I actually went to see them live.
I went last year (1999) to see them play at their sell out tour (the NEC in Brum)
Being local Brummie lads, the crowd for the nec leg of their tour is always a top crowd. Birmingham are proud of the UB's and rightly so.
A group of local lads, who had nothing, but their love of reggae music, and their unemployment benefit made good.
They are still great performers, playing a mix of their old classics like
King
Tyler
red red wine
to some of their new stuff from the new labour of love III album.
The whole arena was standing, singing, dancing along, the atmosphere was amazing (and i was wondering why id never been to see them before now!)
The crowd were a mix of old and young, like me at 29 who grew up on UB40 to the younger 17 and 18 ...
Advantages: Lots of big tunes Disadvantages: Takes a while for the bangers to come in
Soon after his ?Stillmatic? album came out, in 2002 the New York MC Nas decided to bring out more material as ?The LostTapes?, in which he was seen to (rather than come out with a brand new album) compile a collection of all the best tunes which hadn?t made their way onto ?...I Am?, ?Nastradamus? and the 2001 album which reminded people why he created such a buzz with his 1994 debut release.

He gets the album going with a fresh tune to guide listeners in. It is a calm one and features some gentle production to ease people on here as he gives you a chance to just enjoy life with a feel-good recording here. It is a tune which reflects the fact that here he was just messing around this material and came up with a light tune to escape what you typically get in a rhyme set from the Queensbridge native.

Advantages: must for your collection Disadvantages: listening to "Red Red Wine"
I have followed UB40 since i first heard the single "Food for Thought" and i been a fan ever since.
The best of UB40 is a brilliant Album and i think their best one.
It has some great tracks on it especially all the early stuff, which in my opinion is when they were at there best..
It has singles on it like "King",....."1 in 10"....."Food for Thought",...
..."Rat in my kitchen"......"..."Dont Break my Heart" and "Red Red Wine" which is the only UB40 record i really dont like, i think they sold out a bit when they made that record.
But saying that the lads from Brum are a top class act and if you are fan you got to have this Album in your collection.
UB40 has a percussion section which is rare nowdays and the Cambell brothers have a very distictive vocals. ...
