A chaming, but by no means little, soundtrack with something to suit every listener. As with the superb box office hit, Love Actually, the soundtrack is set to be a huge success. From the sultry, slow tones of Norah Jones to the upbeat, positive vibe of Jump by Girls Aloud.
Unlike most soundtracks based on a romantic film, this one does not simply consist of your typical soppy ballards cd once! It's original in that it provides songs from all genres, from let's get up and dance tuns to slow, thought provoking ballards, one for all ages too!
I'm not going to review all the tracks as they're all of a similar genre and I don't want to be a spoil sport and give the whole album away to you, but here's a few insights: -
Jump (for my love) - The relatively new introduction to the pop world, Girls Aloud, winners of the UK TV show Pop Stars. It was released back in November 2003 in conjunction with the release of the Love Actually film... instant publicity! It's an upbeat, dance type track, it'll get you up and dancing in no time (as it does Hugh Grant in the film). It'll make you want to sing and fill you with happiness, a good track to start off the album... on a high! (5/5)
Too Lost In You - A hit for the Sugababes, released in December 2003 and a track on their most recent album "Three." A much more soulful and sombre track than the previous one, provides a good contrast, much slower and emotive too. A true song about heartbreak and being so deeply in love, I love this one! (5/5)
Here With Me - This song of Dido's has featured on countless films and TV programmes including Roswell High, it's a true classic! From her older album, No Angel this has a slow, sombre and hollow feeling to it, making you feel almost empty and alone inside, very emotive once again. (4/5)
Christmas Is All Around - Possibly not going to be the most enduring song, as it's not really going to be relevant to sing along to this one in the middle of summer but a great alternative to the classic "Love is All Around" by Wet Wet Wet, an inspiring and funny film, really gets you in the mood for Christmas though! (4/5)
Turn Me On - Sang by the sultry toned Norah Jones, opens with a grand piano, could be the opening to a movie, very relaxed and laidback with a jazzy blues feel to it, not the most memorable track on the album though. (3/5)
I'll See It Through - A Texas tune, again a sultry and sexy voice sings this, an almost aggressive feel to the opening creates an almost threatening feeling to this song, great lyrics to this one if you stop to listen to them! Do quite like this one, slightly more upbeat than Turn Me On. (4/5)
There's also several other Christmas orientated tracks which kinda spoil the album as they'll have to bypassed through! As well as some older classics such as Eva Cassidy's Songbird (floaty, loving and beautifully sung) and the Beach Boy's God Only Knows.
It creates that warm fuzzy feel of being loved and happy that you get when you see the film, time and time again. A denfinate buy, so go right ahead!

Review of Love, Actually (Soundtrack)
Advantages: Good mixture of songs Disadvantages: As with many compilation albums, less well known songs are put towards the end of the album implying they are less good than the more well known ones
