I got the dvd of the film, love actually, for christmas a few years ago. I loved most of the music on the film, and also loved the songs that had been released. There are some really good groups and singers on this album. So I went ahead and got the cd.

About the film

The film was a big hit back in 2003. It is a christmasy film, but i would watch it at any time of year.
It was directed by Richard Curtis, who also did films like, four weddings and a funeral, Bridget jones and Nottinghill.
So if you love a good chick flick, this is a great film for you. And like the others, it also stars Hugh Grant.

It's a great film, all about love and the lack of. But it's funny at the sametime. It's a great film for a girls night in.

This is the bit you want to know about.
The soundtrack was produced by, Nick Gatfield, and Clive Davis. The music on this cd is great! You have a bit of everything, from love songs, to songs to dance and of course, there has to be the stupid song!!

Quite a few of the songs where new for the film. But you also have some originals, and the dreeded cover versions!!!

This is a cover version of the original, by The Pointer
Sisters. This is a very fun song. It's one you can get up
and dance to.

2) Too Lost In You, By The Sugababes. (4.11 mins)
This song is a slow love song. It is very romantic and
Describes the feeling of love, when you realise your deeply
in love with someone, and can't get them out of your head!
It's a lovely song, and is one of my favourites from this
album.

3) The Trouble With Love Is, By Kelly Clarkson. (3.40 mins)
Kelly clarkson, is one of the american pop idol winners.
She has a gorgeous voice. It is very powerful.
This love song is very soulful. It's all about the making
up and breaking up of relationships. And when you know you
shouldn't be with someone,but you can't help the way you
feel about them.

4) Here With Me, By Dido (4.13mins)
I love Dido! She is one of the best female singers for a
long time.
This song is another love song. It's a bit of a ballad, but
with a bit of soul mixed in. It's based around the feeling
of missing someone so much, that you can't do anything but
think about them until they are back with you.

5) Christmas Is All Around Me, By Billy Mack (3.49 mins)
This is a mick take of Love is all around, by Wet Wet Wet.
All i can say about this song, is that it is very annoying
and they have ruined a lovely song.

6) Turn Me on, By Nora Jones (2.34 mins)
Nora Jones has a gorgeous voice. It's the sort of voice
could send shivers down your back. It is very chilled, and
a bit like the blues.
This song is lovely. It's about the long wait for the one
You love to come back home, and be in your arms again. But
obviously, going by the title, she wants more than just a
cuddle.

7) Songbird, by Eva Cassidy (3.43 mins)
The voice on this girl is amazing. She sadly died before
talent was aloud to shine.
The love you feel coming from this song is just joyful. It
expresses, the feeling of over whelming love. You could
even relate the words to the love you feel for your child
and how you feel so much love its hard to explain. Love
like you have never felt before.

8) Sweetest Goodbye, Maroon 5 (4.29 mins)
This song is slighty up beat compared to the last two songs
but it's still a nice song. It's all about knowing that
even though you have said goodbye to the one you love, that
they will still be there when you return to them
Quite a nice song, but not one of my favourites.

9) Wherever You Will You go, The Calling, (3.27 mins)
A very soft rock song. Great song though. The Calling are
Very talented. The song is all bout splitting up and
Even though you still love the person, and that you hope
they have a good life, and if they need you, you will be
back in a shot!! Lovely song, full of feeling.

10) I'll See It Through, By Texas, (4.05 mins)
Wonderful song! It is full of sentiment and love. Once
again, it's about the over whelming love. When you find
the one for you, then it's right. It expresses that no
what problems life throws at you both, that you will
always be there for the one you love. Texas are a great
group. And this is another fab song from them.

11) Both Sides Now, By Joni Mitchell, (5.45 mins)
This a very old fashioned song. But lovely all the same.
It's a slow, romantic song. All about looking at love from
the bad points and the good, and trying to decide if it's
worth stayng.

12) White Christmas, By Ottis Reading (3.05 mins)
Well I think we've all heard of Ottis Reading, and we've
all heard the song, White Christmas. He is soul singer
with a lot of talent. He puts his own style to this song
and makes it his own. But it's still a lovely version.

13) Take Me as I Am, Whylef Jean, Ft Sharissa. (4.17 mins)
This is a very modern song. Slightly hip hop. Not too
fast though. It's about sticking together no matter what
Through each of your faults, you still want to be together
and love each other.
It's a nice song. But i have to say, I wouldn't have stuck
with him!!!

14) All I Want For Christmas Is You, By Olivia Olson(3.28mins)
This a version of Maria Careys christmas hit. Quite fun
and jolly. A great song for the christmas party.
Well the title really tells you what the song is about!
Wanting to spend christmas with the one you love, means
More than anything santa could bring you! Unless you name
is Mrs Clause of course!

15) God Only Knows. By The Beach Boys (2.53 mins)
The Beach Boys! How Great are they? This is a jolly song,
great for singing along to. The song is about how you feel
about the one you love, and how you would be lost without
them. Very sweet song.

16) All You Need Is Love, By Lynden David Hall, (3.29)
Yes this is a cover version of the Beatles classic.
I have to say, i have never heard of this guy. He seems to
Be singing it in a gospel style. I'm not to keen. Doesn't
have the sing along factor that the original has. But some
may disagree. It all depends on what style of music you
like.

17) Sometimes, By Gabrielle (3.54 mins)
Gabrielle, is yet another great artist. She has a very
rusty voice, Which does this song justice.
It's about the different emitions invold in a relationship
all the arguments and happy times. The love and the hate!
But yet no matter what you feel,and all the arguments, you
don't walk away. You keep holding on, and fight to keep
the relationship going strong. Lovely song.

18) Glasgow Love theme, By Craig Armstrong (2.03 mins)
This is a piece of music played on the piano. It gives off
the feeling of a sad point. When you feel lost and don't
know which way to turn.
But as the tune goes on, you get the sence of joy. It's as
if the person has found what they are looking for, and are
happy again. Lovely piece of music. Very relaxing.

19) PM's Love Theme, By Craige Armstrong (2.14 mins)
This piece of music starts off slowly, with the sound of
violins, But soon builds up into the whole orchestra, with
the sounds of cymbals, and drums. It is a very powerful
piece of music. It gives the feeling of excitement and
happiness. Great uplifting piece.

20) Portugese Love Theme, By Craig Armstrong, (3.11 mins)
Anther slow starting piece. Once again on the piano, but
this time has what sounds like a flute in the back ground.
It is has quite a sad feeling to it. Makes you feel lonely
and down. But as the song goes on, and the violins kick in
You can feel the joy coming through, and you know there is
to be a happy end. Lovely relaxing piece. Well written.

The Cover

The cover of the cd, is made to look like a wraped up presant. This is probably because it was brought out at christmas. It has whats made to look like a ribbon round itwith a tag in the middle. The picture behind are lots of clip art from the film. It is quite nice as it reminds you of the film.
It has the list of the songs on it, with the artists names.
The cover is very colourful, and looks nice.

You can get it in most top music stores, Such as Hmv, Woolworths and vigin mega stores. It is quite widely available, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.
You may also want to try places like Ebay and Amazon, as you may be able to get hold of it alot cheaper there than in the shops.

How much is it?

This all depends where and when you go. At the moment Hmv, have got it for £9.99. But it is usually £14.99 through them.
Woolworths have it for only £4.97. Which i would say is a bargin!! But look around, and you maybe surprised just how cheap you can get it for.

Would I recommend it?

Yes. It's a lovely album. Ok, it's mainly for christmas. But i play it all year round and just skip the christmas songs. So yes, I would recommend it.

Anyone who loved the film or who are into chick flicks. It is quite a lovey album, so i'm not sure that the fellas would be too keen. But they may just shock you, and like it. So happy listening.
