Advantages: Almost perfect album, improved seperation of sounds in remastered form. Disadvantages: One or two slightly weaker tracks.
...player (which weighed a ton) and sat back, ready to be treated to the brave new world of digital audio, I knew I was in for a treat.
Fast forward a decade and a half and a remastered version has turned up with bonus tracks culled from remixes and B sides.
With a nod towards the vinyl mindset of the original release, it is split in to two halves subtitles Hounds of Love and The Ninth Wave. On CD of course, it's just one big lump of music.
The tracks are:
Hounds of Love Side
1. Running Up That Hill. A huge hit single at the time that sets the tone for this part of the album. Lots of energetic if slightly muted drums and synthetic horns give way to the instantly recognisable Bush vocals that tell the story of wanting to do a deal with God to swap places with a loved one to take their pain. Advantages: Remixed, remastered, extended takes and extra tracks Disadvantages: All too brief, and George Martin is no John Barry
...Much like the film, the 'Live and Let Die' soundtrack does everything very competently while never setting the world completely alight. Here it is repackaged and given a remix, remaster, and has had 7 tracks added to it's previous short running time.

Advantages: early electronica, very atmospheric Disadvantages: poor lyrics
...Circus of Death – The music washes over you in waves of swirly sounds, naturally backed by the perfect rhythm. Once again lyrics add warmth if not meaning, with the 1st 2 verses being about Hawaii 5-0, the next 3 about a psychopathic clown whilst the last verse is apparently a message from the last man on earth – make sense of that if you can.
The Path of Least Resistance – bibbibty bobbity boo tom toms, provide the beat accompanied by a rhythmic police siren effect and the lyrics even make sense as well being about how we all live in our comfort zone as part of the crowd.
Blind Youth – When the inventors of dance music are name checked Kraftwork and Gary Numan are always mentioned but no one ever mentions the League. Strange really since this could be released today with only a minor remix, uptempo dance...
