Love In The 80s - Various Artists

Mostly from the 80s, not many hits & almost no disco tracks

Advantages: The 6 number 1 records
Disadvantages: The rest of the tracks are rubbish

Well the title itself is a misnomer for starters as the disco era was a fairly short period during the mid 1970's as disco was ousted from the music scene by Punk and the 80's were ruled by 2 Tone Ska then the New Romantics and synth music at least as far as the UK went any way. Disco may have lived on into the 80's in America but it was replaced by electro, hip hop then rap followed by House music. Wikipedia even openly admits that disco died in 1979 but also states "the genre continued to be popular elsewhere during the 1980s", probably in less fashionable countries that hadn't adopted whatever was popular from England or America by then. 99 Reasons to Love The 80's

Advantages: 18 Wonderful Number one Tracks from the 80's
Disadvantages: None

My wife was in Woolworths the other day, and whilst browsing at the albums which were in the sale she came upon this wonderful collection for the remarkable price of 99p. That's right you get change out of a pound. I must admit it's not the greatest 80's album in the world but what do you expect for a pound. Cover Design This is pretty uninspiring but having said that it must have done something to attract my wifes attention. Basically, the album cover is black, with 56 purple circles with the number 1 in yellow emblazoned within each purple circle to signify the fact only number 1 singles are included on the album. Near the top of the cover, the album title is emblazoned in yellow, and a selection of artists is detailed at the foot of the cover to attract your attention. School Reunion, The 80's Excellent CD's

Advantages: Ohhh to be young again
Disadvantages: none

and this was just after Fame had come out. The cds are correct in every detail to the original records and are great. I was just leaving school in the early 80s and during CDs 2 and 3 becoming a young woman out on the town with the girls. Boy did this cd take me back. I went to see Nena in concert and can sing 99 red balloons in German. Mel and Kim and Respectable, gorgeous looking twins, one sadly died of cancer. I was 18 when this came out and went on a Club 18/30 holiday. This Cd would be recommended for all you 30 somethings or people who love the music of the 80's. Whilst typing this out, I am singing and bobbing around to the music. With the current revival of the 80's going on this is a must for youngsters as well.
