Frank Turner has, at last, made it! He featured on Radios One'slive Lounge recently and it has to be said, it couldn't have happened to a nice bloke!
This album, like all of Frank's work, is a must if you like folk-pop-indie-rock (a new genre I just made up!). The lyrics combine Frank's unique sense of humour with a realism that most of us will recognise - unlike some writers whose story you really can't understand, with Turner you can picture his songs because you've most likely had a similar life experience.
Then there is the beautiful epitaph 'Long Live the Queen' - a message to us all to enjoy our live in light of someone who was clearly dear to Frank. Even this though is familiar to most - not only those who have lost a loved one but to anyone who has good friends.
It's so refreshing to hear a musician tell us something and dare us to live our lives and enjoy it. Okay, some of it is melancholy - '_Jet Lag_' isn't Frank's best song, but, if you're feeling a bit down and want the confidence to get up and do something, convert to Frank - buy his albums, see him on tour and listen to what he's got to say...
'i woke up on a sofa in an unfamiliar house' Frank explains as the opening line of Sleep is for the Week_, his first full album- ahh memories!
