Advantages: Great songs, funky bass, great voices Disadvantages: none

‘Give me a melody, that’s all that I ever need, cos music is my salvation’
3. ‘ Somebodyloves me’ This is a song which proves that SisterSledge are not just about pop and disco, but also have some depth and are capable to pull off mushy love songs too. Ballads aren’t really my thing, but this is a classy song with lovely background vocals and the use of strings in the background is really effective. I think it is a real shame that nowadays in music they rely solely on synthesises and keyboards to produce string and brass orchestration. No matter how good the equipment, they can not produce the same sound as the ‘real thing’. I think this is one of the reasons I love seventies music, because all of the instruments used are acoustic.

Advantages: This is a classic Disadvantages: Cover not very inventive
...Great album with all the classic SisterSledge tracks...It really is a party album that is guarenteed to get any occassion swinging! They really were at the heart of disco in the late nighties early eighties and it brought back all the school disco memories i would highly recommend this for any back in the day party. The only thing was the cover really, was a little uninventive and very dated, but then again you dont buy music for the look of the cover do you! All the great favorites on there and a couple of slowies too it wont fail to get your foot taping especially all you 30 somethings! Made me want to don my rah rah skirt and platforms and dance the night away...

...Hmmm… how to describe the Scissor Sisters self-titled debut without making them so unappealing that there is no reason to read the rest of the review? Think Elton John and Billy Joel like vocals, and the music of the Bee Gees. That’s probably the wrong route. I know the popular thing is to revive old sounding music. Think The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Rapture, Interpol and half the other bands out there doing late 70s and 80s rock. Why not revive the heart of 70s disco? Of course, what a grand idea and then you remember disco still sucks.
Featuring band members with names such as the Del Marquis on Guitar and Baby Daddy on Bass along with Paddy Boom on Drums and Ana Matronic on lead female vocals. Lead singer Jake Shears has an infatuation with including haircutting references in the songs, and making that lifestyle part of his...
