*** ME AND ARETHA FRANKLIN ***
For years, for me, hearing the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is like seeing a sunset. The milieu so peaceful. The landscape so remarkable. The colors so beautiful. The experience so mirthful.
The sound of Aretha Franklin, for me, is like poetry. Whether forsaken ballads or broken-hearted blues, Aretha draws on the highest vigor of inspiration. Like poetry, listening her songs is always delightful.
*** RECOMMENDATION ***
I am not a musician and neither a music-critic. However, I have the courage to say that we will not regret to add this CD, Aretha Franklin Love Songs, to our priceless personal collection.
Advantages: Aerosmith's newest album Disadvantages: A lot of covers - but not a major problem.
picks up in speed again. The instrumental section without any singing on 2: 25 - 36 allows us to hear some great instrument playing as well as building the song up. Tyler soon get's back to singing as the drum beats pulse away, eventually Tyler's desperate shouts ends at the same time of the instruments and gives an eerie feeling to the end of the song.
This is also the albums lead single and did very well on the radio.
Track 5: Never Loved A Girl: Written by R.Shannon.
This is a cover of the ArethaFranklinsong, Never Loved A Boy. Although the title and lyric has been altered slightly for obvious reasons. Tyler's shouts of "Wahh yeah!" towards the end as the music builds up are my favourite parts of the track.
Track 6: Back Back Train. Written by F.McDowell.
Joe Perry takes over the lead vocals on this track. It starts ...
Advantages: Fantastic Hit records Disadvantages: A few you don`t know
and not one that sticks with me. His work is still good later on, but not as memorable as the earler stuff. Taken from the Album -
While The City Sleeps.
14) Love All The Hurt Away - Released in 1981. Another slow song (with ArethaFranklin on vocals). This works better than the last duet. The voices combine well together and it works. Nice song that leaves you feeling very happy. Taken from the Album - The George Benson Collection.
15) Being With You - Released in 1983. This is one that I remeber form the last dance at the local disco. Another instrumental. Taken from the Album - In Your Eyes.
16) Moody`s Mood - Released in 1980. With Patti Austin. Very blue and souful. Not my favorite. Taken from the Album - Give Me The Night.
17) Nature Boy - Released in 1977. Brilliant. What can I say. `There was a boy, a very strange ...
Advantages: Great, Great, Great Disadvantages: Last album, paralysed
still smooth soul at it's best.
3.) "Back to Living Again"
This track opens with a gentle beat and some great keyboard work, This track features another great female Soul star in ArethaFranklin. This is a really lovely ballad which is laid back and has that great summery feel that some of the best songs have. This track is about wanting people to get back to living their life again with friends and family. Brilliant track.
4.) "No One Knows about a Good Thing"
This is an incredible track which just has such an emotive feel. His voice is absolutely remarkable anyway but given how he was on this record it's truly extraordinary. This is a beatiful track which features Tanya Smith with the female part. On this track Curtis talks to a female friend who has been hurt in a relationship and telling her that he's there for her and things will ...

Album Notes
Personnel includes: Aretha Franklin (vocals, piano); Robert Mersey (arranger). Producers: Robert Mersey, Clyde Otis. Compilation producer: Leo Sacks. Recorded between April 27, 1962 and February 10, 1965. Originally released on Columbia Records. Includes liner notes by David Ritz. Digitally remastered by Mark Wilder (2000, Sony). Prior to becoming the Queen Of Soul, former gospel prodigy Aretha Franklin made her first foray into secular music in the early '60s, under the auspices of MOR kingpin and Columbia Records head Mitch Miller. LOVE SONGS features material from this era but by virtue of her amazing talents, she emerges sounding more like Dinah Washington than Patti Page. Accompanying herself on piano, the then- 20 year-old tackles lushly orchestrated numbers normally associated with Washington ("What a Difference a Day Makes"), Billie Holiday ("But Beautiful"), and Frank Sinatra ("Only the Lonely"). Aretha even manages to inject some grit into the bluesy "Muddy Water" and "Trouble in Mind," cutting loose against a background of Wes Montgomery-flavored guitar and a swinging rhythm section. Despite Miller's best efforts to sanitize Aretha's sound, LOVE SONGS comes off as a hip collection, tailor-made for cocktails and slow dancing.
