Advantages: excellent throughout, solid tracks and great lyrics Disadvantages: too short?
Technically speaking, Everlast's music is classed as "Rap", probably historically thanks to the fact that he was the lead man for House of Pain, way back in the day. Now however, he's quite well established as a solo artist with a number of good albums under his belt (see "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues" and "Eat at Whitey's"). However, in my opinion at least, this album (and the others) cannot really be classed as rap, ... ...put into a specific genre and is more like a mixture of a few. I'm inclined to say Country and Western meets the blues and rap all at the same time.
It works though. Very well in fact. There are some upbeat and catchy tracks like "folsom prison blues" but most of them are tales of heart ache, misery and love. This is one of those really good albums that doesn't require much twitching of the skip finger. His lyrics are deep ... more

Everlast has always been very good and continues to be so, in yet another solid outing. Whenever he raps/sings, he speaks to me and inspires. The songs are solid, moving and a pleasure to listen to.
