Advantages: Two excellent tracks Disadvantages: Too short
When your first three albums have mostly been about drinking, gambling and drug taking while giving a commentary on life in urban Britain what do you do with your fourth album? Well you could do more of the same; after all why change a winning formula? Or alternatively you could go for a bit of a walk in France to get some inspiration and write about important things like the environment and the problems of debt and home repossessions.
The Streets are fronted by Mike Skinner and are an urban garage band and one of my all time favourites, I'm not a big fan of rap music especially when you have UK artists putting on American accents to try and sell their music however no one could accuse Skinner of this with his strange cross of an accent, rather than mid Atlantic he has developed a mid England accent, sort of half way between his ...
Advantages: Thought provoking at times, quality lyrics and some good points Disadvantages: Repetitive sound sometimes through the album

This were their 2nd release before the album and did make it quite big but failed to gain as much success as the first single. The tune does have quite a different sound, quite happy and quite sort of geezer type.
It isn't heavy with the drums in fact, chooses to use a chord bouncing through the tune giving it that geezer drop-the-shoulder sort of bounce and rhythm.
Again the lyrics talk about him and The Streets. It could get boring and even I believe that being a fan of The Streets but it's the order in which he puts his lyrics and choices of rhymes that makes me smile or if not this then want to rap along with him.

This is more of an emcee piece than a tune. Although it's got the drums, beats and weird scratching sample it ...
Advantages: good quality tracks, solid album, funny in places as always. Disadvantages: a bit short
The streets (aka Mike Skinner) has always been quite "different" from your average song maker. Not really rap, not really dance, his music is odd yet appealing.
Im a great fan, i have to admit and this being his third album and most recent, it just slipped its way into my collection.
The Streets music has always been quite chilled out and sombre, yet appealing if only for the humour value. Quirky lines and clever songs, the tunes are catchy and the lyrics amusing.
This most recent outing is a little more depressing, in all honesty. Not a good word or a good feeling, but it feels like he's a little down in the dumps. There are still some amusing, yet poignant tracks (see "way of the dodo" about how we are wrecking the planet but it will still be here once we've all gone "the way of the dodo") but mostly it has a sort ...
