Advantages: Colourful, wacky and amusing Disadvantages: A bit too wacky, way too loooooong
perhaps isn't necessary to learn more about him, but I just felt that I didn't have the chance to take breath before the action started - I didn't even get to grips with his name until half way through the film. Milla Jovovich gives a great performance as Leeloo. She really convinced me that she couldn't speak English anyway and I thought she did a fantastic job of looking terrified. She also looks amazing, very gamine and slender.
Then there are the more comical actors. Gary Oldman is Zorg, who visually looks like Morticia with a really bad lop-sided hairdo. Gary Oldman does evil very well, so he is in his element here, able to ham it up at every opportunity. Although this film is set in 2257 we start 5000 years before this when a small temple in Egypt is visited by friendly aliens who explain about the 5 elements and the stone but then they are about to leave the 5th Element, the stone of life is broken and smashed. Back in the present, 2257, the hand of this statue has been found amongst some wreckage and with the technology which they have they re-grow the person who the hand belonged to.
Also on Earth there is the presence of a massive planet shaped weapon which has come to claim the stones or it will destroy all life. The President gets a shock when he learn of what is needed to save the planet.
Back to the regenerated person, it turns out to be Leeloo who makes an escape and falls into the taxi of Korban Dallas, played by Bruce Willis, he reluctantly agrees to help her as all ...
