Dark and moody texture. This is the last song Freddie put his vocals on which lends it a poignant note. Brain finished the vocal work for this as Freddie was too ill. Look out for snippets of Freddie's live crowd interactions.

A last slice of Queen for the masses. We all wondered how they could manage it and we all desperately wanted something more from Freddie. It was a bleak time for Queen fans. Then it was announced that there was an albums worth of unreleased material. Woo Hoo!!!!
This album is a mixture of old tracks from solo projects that have been given a Queen revamp and new gems. The knowledge that Freddie was dying makes this a very poignant album, with all the lyrics changing meanings as you listen. It's a competent Queen album and has royalty seeping from it's pores. It's also good to hear Freddies versions of some old favourites... Now if only we can get someone to release his 'New York, New York' from Highlander
Snap Judgements
1. It's A Beautiful Day a good start, a good sentiment. Short and Sweet. length - 2:32
2. Made In Heaven A re-working of one of the hits from 'Mr Bad Guy'. This version is substantially more rocky, with typically atypical chord changes from Brian length - 5:25
3. Let Me Live Originally written for 'The Miracle'. Gospel choiring that sets Freddies voice off a treat. some nice piano work, and it's always a treat to hear Rogers dulcet tones. Brain finished off the vocal duties and takes us into a guitar solo length - 4:45
4. Mother Love Dark and moody texture. This is the last song Freddie put his vocals on which lends it a poignant note. Brain finished the vocal work for this as Freddie was too ill. Look out for snippets of Freddie's live crowd interactions. length - 4:49
5. My Life Has Been Saved A re-working of the B-side to "Scandal." Starts with some worryingly Richard Cladermanesque piano then ups the tempo. The lyrics work particularly well with the theme of this album. (but I do skip this to get to Number 6) length - 3:15
6. I Was Born To Love You An excellent re-working from 'Mr Bad Guy' shows how much you can add to a track without changing it's essential character. Before this album I thought this song couldn't get any better...I was wrong. Watch for the bass riff from 'Kind of Magic' and some lyrics nabbed from 'Living on my Own'. The guys are obviously having a heap of fun. length - 4.49
7. Heaven For Everyone Originally a track from the Roger Taylor band "The Cross" album called 'Shove It!'. Oddly the US release of this album has Roger Taylor on vocal duties, but the UK and European version has Freddie. This vocal track has been dusted down, polished off and magnificently worked into the new Queen backing track. Has everything you'd expect from a classic Queen track length - 5:36
8. Too Much Love Will Kill You Originally written for "The Miracle" but held back and used on Brian's solo album "Back To The Light". Sad and Melancholic and...well, I thought this was sad enough with Brian singing it but when put in context, Freddie's vocals bring a whole new meaning to it. Some have said it's a tactless and ill-chosen track for this album. It's not. Getting to hear Freddie sing this is a treat. length - 4:20
9. You Don't Fool Me When the bass kicks in, you know this is a song written by John :) This has a funky disco dance feel to it (and probably wouldn't be too out of place on 'Hot Space'). Brian is let loose midway through for a 1:30 solo. Fantastic. length - 5:24
10. A Winter's Tale The last song written by Freddie before he died. It was written during the last vocal sessions in Montreaux. A lovely song with a classic Queen choral backing and a light solo from Brian. length - 3:49
11. It's A Beautiful Day (Reprise) A reprise of track 1, Its A Beautiful Day. Same beginning, rockier and heavier ending. Look out for snippets of "7 Seas of Rhye" in the cacophonic ending. length - 3:01
There's 20 minutes worth of ambient music on the last track...can't tell you a lot about it really as I normally pop the CD out. I have to be in the right mood for ambient, and I don't find I am after listening to a Queen album.
All in all this probably has more to offer an existing Queen fan than a newbie but it's a damn fine album nontheless.
Advantages: Almost romantic Disadvantages: Then you remember he was gay

Well maybe after writing that down i dont feel its such a fantastic album.. The only tracks i ever listen to now are 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8.
Hmm ok, thats ... ...said for any other album i own.
Well thats odd.. I've just remembered how great it is and i shall be playing it as soon as I find it again.
It's 1 of those that if you love queen you'll love the album.. If you dont love queen then you might love the album an dif your a homophobe you'll wanna set fire to it. ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Made In Heaven - Queen"
Advantages: One of the best late-period Queen albums. Disadvantages: Some might find the concept behind the album distasteful. Not me.
the artistic and ethical arguments involved, one thing is clear. In the case of Freddie Mercury, there’s no question of consent to address. For Mercury, uniquely, knew he was going to die; from the late ’80s, he was aware that he had contracted the incurable fatal disease, AIDS, and was able to prepare for his passing. Part of this preparation involved giving his bandmates permission to use his recordings to construct a posthumous release; another part involved working – literally – until he dropped, in order to provide them with as much vocal material as possible. Four years after the final Queen studio album recorded as a four-piece, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon released MadeInHeaven, an album assembled from fragmentary demo recordings, reworked Mercury solo pieces and old studio rarities. Given the less ...
Advantages: Sublime Disadvantages: Some tracks have rehashed vocal from Freddie solo work
The final ‘new? Queen album, although I certainly expect a few more releases of older material before too long. MadeInHeaven is everything the Queen fans who monred Fred?s death wanted it to be. It is the most sensitive Queen album in the catalogue with Freddie?s voice particularly touching. Mainly pop songs, and with only five ‘new? tracks, MadeInHeaven has a lot of work to do to win over the traditional Queen fan. Yet, somehow it does it. From the moment that the chords of ‘It?s A Beautiful Day? strike up, we know this is going to be an album that takes the listener on a rollercoaster of emotions. The title track is, in fact, a Queen version of one of Freddie?s solo tracks, but it is significantly reworked. Another song that gets the same treatment is ‘I Was Born To Love You? which leaves you feeling giddy ...
Advantages: A memorable CD with songs from his last months Disadvantages: None
MadeInHeaven was the first album Queen released after Freddie Mercury's death in 1991. It contains songs such as 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' and 'MadeInHeaven' which both did well in the UK charts.
The front cover of the inlet shows Freddie at the recording studios in Montreux, a moving picture for all Queen fans.
I bought this product as I have been a Queen fan for many years and the CD is dedicated in Freddie's memory. It was also good value for money, priced at £10.99.
It does not give a good idea of how the style of Queens music has changed over time but the lyrics show what Freddie went through in the final stages of his life.
The CD is well worth buying if you haven't already purchased it. The lyrics are very moving and this is one you will not regret buying. ...

Album Notes
Queen: Freddie Mercury (vocals, piano, keyboards); Brian May (guitar, keyboards, vocals); John Deacon (bass, keyboards); Roger Taylor (drums, percussion, keyboards, vocals). Additional personnel: Rebecca Leigh-White, Gary Martin, Catherine Porter, Miriam Stockley (background vocals). Engineers: David Richards, Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J. Macrae. Not a posthumous collection of odds and ends but an album actually recorded in the final months of Freddie Mercury's struggle with AIDS, MADE IN HEAVEN is full-force Queen. Their dynamic theatrics charge the album, as Mercury's unrivaled voice and the band's grand production aesthetic resound clearer than ever before. MADE IN HEAVEN captures all the explosiveness that made Queen one of the most magical big-rock bands of the '70s and '80s. Mercury's powerful voice soars to heights that mere pop singers simply aren't able to grasp. On "It's A Beautiful Day," and particularly on the song's refrain, his regal vocal prowess reminds the listener that this is a man who could sing opera but still rock harder than most heavy metal screamers. The rest of the band is equally brutal in its precision: Brian May's sophisticated guitar work, and the eloquent, sympathetic rhythm section of bassist John Deacon and drummer Roger Taylor make this collection of rock music a moving affair. Throughout their career, Queen beckoned the acceptance of a broader range of pop-rock. Mercury's vocals soared beyond the rock idiom, and May's dignified guitar arrangements may never be equaled. Freddie Mercury will be forever missed, but the unrestrained beauty of MADE IN HEAVEN captures him in a loving portrait.
Album Reviews
Q (12/95, p.144) - 3 Stars - Good - "...MADE IN HEAVEN is not some retrospective rehash of surplus, rejected or 'lost' vocal performances...but an album of entirely original material recorded, for the most part, with as much care and attention to detail as any of Queen's previous releases..." Entertainment Weekly (11/10/95, pp.62-64) - "...Given its halting construction, it...makes for a surprisingly organic work with no shortage of highlights....the perfect theatrical epitaph for a life dedicated to gorgeous artifice." - Rating: B+
