I bought this mix cd from a club night in Portsmouth called Phase2 and i was blown away. This cd features 16 tracks (and a hilariously abusive hidden 17 trck) from mainly unsigned artists from the Portsmouth area and it just go's to prove that there is a huge mass of unrecognised talent out there.
The cd is split into 2 sets mixed by DJ KIX, the first being a more melodic and funky kind of hardhouse/techno/trance hybrid. Highlights ... ...Third Eye by KIX, a melodic trance monster and Vth by KIX which contains what is possibly the most annoying and yet painfully catchy riff i have ever heard. I've been whistling this one for weeks.
The second set is on a harder trancy tip but still has enough sheer gall to make you smile like a deranged orangutang.Highlights in this set include The Origional by Karl Lost, another riff that i hum 24/7, a slab of chunky acid techno from ... more

Highlights being 1AM by PK, an outrageously cheeky slab of house, Third Eye by KIX, a melodic trance monster and Vth by KIX which contains what is possibly the most annoying and yet painfully catchy riff i have ever heard. I've been whistling this one for weeks.

I cannot recommend this cd enough. To all you people who buy the same old tunes over and over from the Ministry of sound, this is where the real underground techno and trance is coming out. Does anyone else remember techno before it became big business or is it just me? Before Ministry of Sound or Gatecrasher even existed people were releasing techno tunes because they loved it and this is what this compilation is all about. None of the tunes on this cd have had a previous commercial release but nearly all of them are far and away better than the crap that passes for dance music these days. The music here is designed to make you smile ... ...techno.
The cd is split into two continuous mixes by DJ KIX who also contributes some of the tracks. The most amazing thing about it is that many of the tracks on this compilation were produced just using 'music 2000' on the playstation. If you can produce a track like the final tune of the first set, 'Vth' just using a playstation then i might be tempted to get one as this tune has one of the most catchy riffs i have ever heard.
