I decided to buy this album, almost immeadiately after hearing her hit 'Foundations'. And i can assure you, it was not in the slightest dissapointing! I honestly have listened to Kate Nash ever since.

The album, 'Made of Bricks', named this due to her family foundations being so strong, consists of 12 songs, and one hidden track.

1) Play - At first, i was not at all impressed by this song, but once you understand that it's simply a quirky way of introducing the consumer to the album, you look past that... or perhaps you may just skip past that! The words 'i play all day long, in my room' are repeated over the top of a catchy tune, the song only lasts for 1 minute. **

2) Foundations - Well, you most probably know this one, and if you haven't where the hell have you been for the last 6 months!?! It's catchy lyrics, and tune, will have you singing along in no time. And it contains classic lyrics such as "I said i'd rather be with your friends, mate 'cos they are much fitter." The unformal tone, of which, helps you relate to the song. *****

3) Mouthwash - This is the second single released by Miss Nash, and to be honest, it wasn't one of my personal favourites, but it contains yet more catchy one liners, and is 'easily-relatable' to. The intro is really great, and really shows off her piano playing. It's tracks like this that really show how down-to-earth Kate Nash really is. ****

4) Dickhead - This song, is my least favourite from the album, and no, not just because of the title. I feel that there is a distinct lack of lyrics as the words 'What you being a Dickhead for.' are repeated several times. Though, after seeing Kate Nash live, i've actually taken a liking to this song. The song is about a female bully, not a male as so commonly mistaken. ***

5) Birds - "Right, Birds can fly so high and they can shit on your head" This line instantly made me giggle, and ever since my first listen i've loved this song! Yet again, it contains the natural charm of kate nash, who is this time playing the guitar, and many more memorable lines. This song seems to be popular amongst a variety of people, it appeals to a wider audience than just her usual fans. Amazing song!*****

6) We Get On - As i write the title, i have already started singing along. This is my favourite song on the album. I can relate to it so easily, and it's just so catchy. Definitely worth a listen! The lyrics tell the popular tale of un-requited love, 'Simply, knowing you exist ain't good enough for me'. The ending is slightly sad, but at the same time you can't help but 'bop' along, as the tune is so bouncy. The original slower version of this song, is slightly better, as it's more inkeeping with Nash's style, but this version is also amazing. *****

7) Mariella - After a slightly harsh introduction, the song takes a turn for the better, so to speak, and just jumps to life. Absolutely amazing song. It tells the tale of an unpopular, 'different', girl named Mariella. This song is an amazing tribute to young girls everywhere who wish to express themselves. I think that perhaps this song is based on Kate herself, but that is just my assumption. Listen for yourself and make your own mind up! You'll love it. *****

8) Shit Song - And no, before you ask, it does not live up to it's name! It's actually very catchy, and contains yet more lines bursting full of attitude "Darlin' don't give me shit, cos I know that you're full of it". Yet again, Kate shows how multi-talented she is playing another addictive tune on her piano. When I first saw the title of this song, I thought "How could she name a song that, she's just setting herself up for trouble." But really… she's not. ***

9) Pumpkin Soup - Randomly named, I think, but Kate's third release, again tells the tale of love. This song is annoyingly catchy… ah, who am I kidding, I love it! It's definitely not an instant favourite, but give it time and it will grow on you, undoubtedly. ****

10) Skeleton Song - WOW, I love the beat of this song. The lyrics are yet again, so individual, and inspiring. This song is slightly harder to interpret than some of her other songs, but apparently it is about a skeleton that was in the Nash household. Random, again, but I think that's what makes Kate so great. She's completely randomly funny. The end of the song, is very dramatic, and consists of shouts of different bones in the skeleton that are being smashed. Genius. ****

11) Nicest Thing - The lyrics of this song, are simply gorgeous. They're lovely in a slightly quirky way; ' I wish that you knew when I said two sugars actually I meant three.' Sweet. This song is simple, and that's what makes it so great. The lyrics are simple, as is the tune. But this does not make it any less spectacular, it's one of my favourites. ****

12) Merry Happy - SO catchy, honestly you will be humming the tune in no time. There's not a lot I can say about this song, other than listen to it. 'Dancing at discos eating cheese on toast, yeah you make me merry, make me very very happy.'. I think it's about the simple things in life, and how spending time doing those things with the ones you love make you happy. Another lovely message J.

Hidden Track - Little Red. - This song is lovely. I'm not too sure on the meaning of this song, it's slightly confusing. But the lyrics are yet again fantastic. I think 'The Nash' sure has a way of writing some amazing lyrics, that can really touch your heart, even if they aren't "proper English".

In conclusion, fantastic album. Maybe not for those who find her accent annoying, which I totally can't understand. I think that the way she sings is just natural, un-manufactured, and lovely. Kate Nash really proves her worth in this first album, I'll definitely rush out to buy her next (? I hope there is one!) album. Made of Bricks makes me well and truly Merry Happy.
