Advantages: A brilliant album Disadvantages: None at all
...This is the latest double album in a long long line of excellent albums by The MoodyBlues. There isn't a weak track on the Strange Times album and the Moodies have managed to record new, up to date material whilst still retaining their unique sound.
The opening track, English Sunset, is the MoodyBlues at their very best - catchy enough to sing along to but with the depth of feeling that only they can portray. For the romantics amongst you, you won't find better tracks than All That Is Real Is You and My Little Lovely.
The CD is brilliant and the live performance at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year took my breath away. Words cannot describe the wonderful feeling watching these people enjoying performing their music as much as we were enjoying listening to it - if that's possible!
The 'Best of' album is exactly what it says...

The lyrics ranged from philosophy (cynics might add "cod" as a prefix) to love songs...

Advantages: The distinctive sound of the Moody Blues at their best! Disadvantages: Don't be silly!
...This opinion is about the single album Strange Times as opposed to the double album containing both Strange Times and The Very Best of the MoodyBlues.
Strange Times is the latest album by the MoodyBlues released in 1999 and it is well up their usual standard if not better.
It opens with English Sunset (more tea vicar?) which was a great way for them to open on their year 2000 tour. A good strong song with a good beat and lyrics to sing along to all blended with the MoodyBlues unique style.
Next on the CD is a track called Haunted which is a lovely ballad sung by a man who has lost his love and is haunted by her memory.
Sooner or Later (Walkin’ on Air) is next and is a light-hearted melody, but still having the distinctive MoodyBlues sound.
Wherever You Are is a beautiful love song, followed by Foolish Love which is a bit...
