Review of Warm Leatherette - Grace Jones by IanPhillips

Advantages: The excellent U.K Top 20 hit, Private Life
Disadvantages: The dated, album track, Bulls***

...In the late 1970's Grace Jones became something of a Disco Diva as she burst onto New Yorks club scenes with Disco hits such as I Need A Man and Do Or Die. However in 1980 following a new record deal with Island Records, home to various Reggae acts, Jones achieved further mainstream recognition with the superb Warm Leatherette album. Grace Jones shifted musical direction for the Warm Leatherette (1980) project, divulging into a diverse blend of sounds and styles ranging from Reggae, Rock, New Wave, Funk and Soul. The finished results were some of Jones most compelling recording work. There's No Escaping Him..
Review of Escapology [PA] - Robbie Williams by l0z04

Advantages: all tracks are brilliant, he experiments with different styles, the lyrics and melodies are incredible
Disadvantages: robbie's ego, same taste in music as my mum :oS

...Escapology would probably have to be my Desert Island CD. You know - the one cd you would take with you to listen to day in, day out if you were deserted on a remote island with nothing but the clothes on your back (and this robbie cd, of course) and no hope of ever returning home (i'm assuming that there is a cd player and fully functioning, 3-pin plug socket on this island. one would hope.). Well, yep. This is mine. I'll admit that, from the days of Take That, I've never liked Robbie Williams. At all. He's always been so...arrogant, full of himself, bigheaded. My mother, on the other hand, must have either been able to see past this (how?) or simply admire this about Robbie. Along with pretty much every other mother in the UK and beyond. Isn't it weird, that? The way that everyone's mum loves Robbie Williams. And Dido, she... Read review
