Streetlife sounds somewhat uninspiring to my eardrums as he delivers the hook. When Streetlife spits a whole verse as he did as a guest artist on the magic Hellz Wind Staff he really shines as an artistic lyricist. The same rings true for practically all the verses he wrote for tracks on his own album, Street Education. But when it comes to handling choruses, Streetlife is useless, ranging from mediocre to extreme whackness as all he does is incoherently yell or scream. This is exactly what Streetlife does on The Prequel. His hook sounds kind of corny and insane to my eardrums and only serves to render him an inane Hip Hop performer...

Advantages: Classic songs, superb vocals, the voice of an angel Disadvantages: Absolutely none
.... There are haunting woodwind instruments, sweet melodic piano, awe-inspiring strings, not to mention tremendous brass. The musicians themselves play beautifully and strongly where warranted, but most of the time they are used to complement as opposed to overshadow Alison Moyet’s voice.

Her mother’s favourite song, hence its presence on the album, Alison utilises her deep soulful voice to convey the poignant lyrics of this song and sings with passion and belief. I don’t know why but this song conveys to me all the confusion that surrounded me during my adolescent years. I’ve never heard it sung more beautifully than this.

...and Abstract Science. Lady Blanche is ‘an older lady’ who is rather jealous of Ida and feels she should have that position. Hilarion, Cyril and Florian scale the walls and, finding some academic robes, disguise themselves as young ladies. They encounter Lady Psyche who is Florian’s sister and who immediately recognises the three as childhood playmates. They are overheard by Melissa – Lady Blanche’s daughter – who has never seen a man before. She is enchanted and agrees to keep their secret. Lady Blance immediately realises the ruse for she notes that when they sing “two sing tenor and one a baritone”. Melissa persuades her that if Hilarion can claim Ida it would remove her from the University and promote the Lady Blanche to her rightful place. Cyril gives the game away by getting drunk at dinner and singing a song about the delights of singing...
