Advantages: brilliant crime story you won't want to put down
Disadvantages: If you haven't read the previous books you may lack some background

This is the forth book in the Roy Grace series and I was very pleased to receive it for Christmas as I have read the other three. You do not need to have read the others though as this stands fine on it's own as a stand alone story but you would have more background into the characters if you had read them. The story centres around the discovery of a skeleton in a storm drain in Brighton, a man caught up in the 9/11 disaster and a woman on the run. The book starts in the present day with the discovery of the skeleton and Superintendent Roy Grace being called to the scene. The skeleton appears to be about 9 years old which causes Grace to worry that it may be the skeleton of his wife who disappeared that long ago and has never been seen since. Unpredictable Green World of Dar Williams

Advantages: Modern folk with profound lyrics and beautiful melodies.
Disadvantages: Not widely available

I first became aware of Dar Williams when I bought the Joan Baez CD, Gone from Danger. Dar Williams had written a number of tracks on the CD and also provided backing vocals on some. I was very impressed by this singer / songwriter and promised myself I would seek out more of her work. It took me some time but I finally came across this CD, "The Green World". The CD is the fourth of Dar Williams solo albums released in 2002 by Razor & Tie and I was not disappointed. The CD is enjoyable for many reasons. Each of the songs is a delight to listen to instilled with the folk-song storytelling quality. Dar's voice is pleasing and clear; at times wistful, at others mournful, sometimes childlike and sometimes whimsical. Mark Owens Green Man

Advantages: new music, easy listening
Disadvantages: a bit slow but interesting

After Take That broke up in 1996 (it cant be that long sob sob ) Mark Owen the small sexy dishy one (sorry got carried away) started his own solo career with his first album Green Man. Mark had a lot to do to keep his fans from Take That, plus more. He also had to follow in the great footsteps off Robbie Williams, so all eyes were on Mark. Mark changed his appearance, longer hair, more hippy look and changed his style of music. Gone was the pop, dance music in came the more soulful, slower songs. Ones with great lyrics.
