Advantages: quite calming Disadvantages: goes on & on & on & on &...etc.
...At last, a decent band in the charts!!!. The album, The ManWho is the 2nd album by Travis, who were discovered with the single Why Does It Always Rain On Me which stormed the charts. This isn't their first album though, they also had the undiscovered album Good Feeling. From The ManWho they also released Driftwood, Turn and Writing To Reach You as singles. When released in '99, this album won many awards and was a massive sucsess in the charts. I really like this album as its not as cheesy as so much of the songs that enter the charts, and unlike other bands I like such as Slipknot and KoRn, Travis are liked and listenable to by my parents. ...They were the band of 1999 – and their album, The ManWho, shows us why. An antidote to the manufactured girl and boy groups, Travis got back to basics and won us over with their simple, catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Advantages: Great selection of tracks Disadvantages: None!
...With all the hype surrounding this album, I decided that it was time to add 'The ManWho' to my ever-growing album collection, and there is no doubt that this ranks as one of the best of them. 'Travis' who? is what we were all asking early last year, and then this...a real master-piece, setting the Indie music scene alight. All of the tracks are brilliant without exception, but the best tracks are 'Driftwood' and 'Writing to Reach You,' and even the 'hidden' track 'Blue Flashing Light' is mightily impressive, written about Fran's relationship with his father. If 'Travis' can release an album half as good as this, I'll be rushing out to buy it. Buy this album immediately!...
