Advantages: Original songs well-written and played Disadvantages: Couple of weak tracks
Above all others, this CD is definitely The Kinks at their very best. Their enthusiasm for their music clearly shows through.
Penned by Ray Davies, the songs still have as much appeal, to music fans of that era, as they did when they were first recorded back in the 60's.
Four particular songs stand head and shoulders above the rest:
'You Really Got Me', purely for its foot-stomping, four-chord rhythm.
'Lola' which shocked a generation that had never before heard lyrics about a transvestite on a record before.
'Dedicated Follower of Fashion' which accurately summed up fashion-concious London in the Sixties.
Lastly, and arguably the best, 'Waterloo Sunset'. Hearing those descending notes on the guitar from the opening bars, you know instantly that you are going to hear a great song. One that, once heard, will never be ...
Advantages: Best bed i have slept in Disadvantages: No tube station close by
Me and my husband stayed at Marriott MarbleArch Hotel for our Wedding Anniversary,(Bonfire Night) we stayed from 4th - 6th November 2006 as i wanted to go on the London Eye this year as i thought we would get a good view of the fire works.
The hotel is of a very high standard and is kept well maintained, although we felt it was expensive for where it is situated compared to other hotels.
The bedrooms are very tastefully decorated and are quite roomy compared to other hotels. It had a queen size bed which is about the size of a double bed plus half again, the mattress was soft and comfortable (which i like) no good if you like a firm one and the pillows were large and fluffy, it is the best bed i have slept in i had a thoroughly good night sleep. The room also had a shower/bath and a sofa, TV with alarm clock and telephone, iron ...
Advantages: Heat up very quickly, nice accessories. Disadvantages: Heavy, noisy, expensive.
!) running out of steam before you've finished straightening.
* When turning on the steam setting, you're supposed to give it some time (I'm impatient, so it usually ends up being 30 seconds), to heat up. This isn't great either because of the small amount of water you've managed to put into the tank, a lot gets expelled as steam before you even get to use it on your hair!
The steam adjustment switch is also on the side of the straighteners, and is another 'slider' style. However, I find the steam settings easier to adjust than the fin switch.
HEATING UP ---
With regards to speed of heating up, I cannot complain. They tend to be up to the required heat in 30 seconds, or less for the lower settings.
This is excellent, as it is almost a 'plug in and go' item in that respect.
