Album Notes: Personnel: Mark Schultz (vocals, piano); Ginny Owens (vocals); George Cocchini (acoustic & electric guitars); Rivers Rutherford (acoustic guitar); Gary Burnette (electric guitar); Mark Douthit, Mike Haynes (horns); Jeffery Roach (piano, keyboards); Mark Hill (bass); Dan Needham, Greg Herrington (drums); Tabitha Fair, Marilyn Martin, Chris Rodriguez, Michael Mellett, Kim Keyes, Peter Penrose, Lisa Cochran (background vocals). Christian pop singer-songwriter Mark Schultz makes his debut with a sound that's equal parts Michael W. Smith, Bruce Hornsby, and Matchbox 20. While Schultz's lyrical sensibilities are clearly rooted in faith-based subject matter, his musical orientation is a grab bag of everything from pop and rock to R&B and gospel. The fervently bopping "Let's Go" alternates a Ben Folds Five-like pop feel with spots where Schultz displays his ample piano chops, and "When You Give" is an anthemic rocker whose spiritual message is accented by a touch of gospel flavoring. Ballads such as "He's My Son" and "When You Come Home" show that Schultz has both the potential for Triple-A crossover and a possible entry into the country market. However diverse Schultz's various musical influences may be, the underlying inspiration behind his work is obviously his faith, and in the end that's what gives his eponymous album weight.
Advantages: new music, easy listening Disadvantages: a bit slow but interesting
...After Take That broke up in 1996 (it cant be that long sob sob ) Mark Owen the small sexy dishy one (sorry got carried away) started his own solo career with his first album Green Man. Mark had a lot to do to keep his fans from Take That, plus more. He also had to follow in the great footsteps off Robbie Williams, so all eyes were on Mark.
Mark changed his appearance, longer hair, more hippy look and changed his style of music. Gone was the pop, dance music in came the more soulful, slower songs. Ones with great lyrics. There’s 11 tracks on this album.

Advantages: A lovely duet with James Taylor Disadvantages: Flat and repetitive
...I have always been a fan of Mark Knopfler, both in his days of Dire Straits and as a solo artist. So I anxiously awaited the release of his second solo album, Sailing to Philadelphia. I actually pre-ordered it from Amazon, so that I would receive it on the day of release. After his prior album, Golden Heart, which is one of my favourites and which I had to buy twice, since my children permanently borrowed it, I was sure this would be among my favourites.
Wrong!
Don't get me wrong, it's fine, but it is nothing exciting. It sounds like Mark Knopfler, like always. He has that very distinguishable voice and guitar sound. But it is flat and monotonous, not even the musicians excite me.
There are a couple of redeeming tracks. The first being the beautiful title track, Sailing to Philadelphia. On this, Knopfler duets with James...

...Mark Owen is the small, sexy one from Take That... in my opinion of course haha. This is Mark Owens' first album after the split of Take That in 1996 which shows there is so much more to him than the typical boy band label he was given. He wrote most, if not all, of the songs on the album with great catchy dance type tunes and a couple of slower ballad type tunes. His vocals are just amazing and perfect. Clementine is my particular favourite because it is really catchy, especially the chorus. It is the type of song that stays in your head. Although the album did not do as good as Robbie Williams albums, it was still a hit. It is good to listen to whatever mood you are in and it will chill you out and make you feel happy. I love this album just because there is something about it that just gives you a warm feeling inside. I would highly...
