HIGH-HEELED BLUES FROM A MULE KICKIN' MAMA
Review of High Heeled Blues - Rory Block by  nfp2

Advantages: May be the best contemporary white female blues singer and acoustic guitarist you'll ever hear.
Disadvantages: None

...1981 she went back to her roots via the traditional music record label Rounder Records, and from then until now Block has recorded more than a dozen blues albums. In 1995 her album When a Woman Gets the Blues won the W. C. Handy Award for Best Acoustic Blues Album of the Year, and she was selected by the Martin Guitar Co. to endorse their strings in a national ad campaign. In 1998 she won the W. C. Handy Award again, this time as Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year. “HIGH HEELED BLUES,” THE ALBUM: To me, though, Block was at her best in her very first anthology of blues standards, long before the whole world would learn just how good she was, and maybe even before she would even realize herself just how far she would go. The album High Heeled Blues was released in 1981 on Rounder Records as an LP and re-released in... Read review

Blue Fly's By...
Review of All Rise - Blue by  happeninbabe

Advantages: Great music all on one CD.
Disadvantages: You might not like boy band music.

...Now you're gonna lose me Throwing away our yesterdays Everything we planned Cause you're a girl, I'll never understand.”  11. BACK SOME DAY (4.00) Yet again another slow song and the Blue boys voices in some places sound just like Ricky Martin! I actually quite like this song even though it’s a typical boy band song, it just has something different about it. The introduction of it is cool too, sounds sort of echoing and different change for Blue’s sound. My rating is ***/5. Chorus… “If you're alone, I want you to know I'll be back someday, don't you ever let go Baby, hold tight through the cold lonely night Just wait for me till I get home When you're on your own, I want you to know I'll be there for you, I could never let go I realise that you want me to stay But hold on, I'll be... Here today, Gone Tomorrow
Review of Present, The - Moody Blues (The) by  Newfloridian

Advantages: It’s the Moody Blues. It completes the collection.
Disadvantages: Nothing to write home about

...September 1983, “The Present” reached No 15 in the U.K. album charts and No.26 in the US. The play list and my personal assessment (marked out of five) follows: 1. Blue World **** There are vibrant insistent bass sounds to accompany this melodic somewhat downbeat Justin Hayward song. The feel presages “The Other Side Of Life” from the subsequent album release of the same name. Patrick Moraz provides distinctive riffs and trills of the keyboard. A good enough opening track. This was the principal single release fr5om the album albeit with different ‘B’ sides in Britain (where it peaked at No.35) and America (highest point No.62). 2. Meet Me Halfway *** This is a pleasant fairly quick paced effort from the two “J”’s (John and Justin) 3. Sitting At The Wheel **** There is a driving drum beat accompanying John Lodge... Read review
