Time for my ultimate review of what I feel is the finest metal record of all time, 'Master of Puppets' by the masters themselves, 'Metallica'.
Myself, a fan of Heavy Metal entirely because of the music from these guys. It was the 'Black' album that started it all for me in the early 90's ... Read review

album (as well as their last with bassist Cliff Burton). Focusing on the concept of power and abuses thereof, this is a collection of complex, intelligent music, played at about a hundred miles an hour. Not that these are short songs; this eight-song album clocks in at over an hour, which makes it all the more impressive that not one moment on this recording is boring. In tackling various approaches to their subject, Metallica is insightful lyrically as well as musically: "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" is from the point of view of an institutionalised inmate and "Disposable Heroes" is the perspective of a soldier. --Genevieve Williams
Advantages: Flawless Heavy Metal record, technically stunning time signature shifts with occasional classical structuring Disadvantages: 20 year old production job, could do with a re-mastering

The chorus is a master class in how to combine a snaking super riff with great lyrics "Come crawling faster, obey your master, your life burns faster…" awesome.
At 3 minutes and 34 seconds the pace drops as the word "Master" is repeated in increasingly darker tones. We get a beautiful segment of clean guitars with the beginning of what is about to become one hell of a guitar solo (see the band live and people all around will hum this one, ... ...Puppet's':

I most certainly recommend this album to potential buyers, it is without a doubt the best 'Metallica' album released thus far. It clearly defined the 'Metallica' sound to it's full potential, and above all was a flawless masterpiece. If you like pre 'White Noise' ...

Advantages: Diverse (for Metallica), all band members at their peak of talent, doesn't sound dated Disadvantages: Won't appeal to everyone; eight tracks may seem too short
...to the 90s. Master of Puppets is a landmark metal album, and not one that's particularly accessible to the general public. Their 1991 hit "Metallica," also known as the Black Album, managed to reach this more accessible level leading to its number one spot and successful single releases, while their later albums had their success largely based on the Black Album. Puppets has many elements of fast, heavy thrash metal, but it's the interesting diversity ... ...song alone. 2. MASTER OF PUPPETS An epic song at 8:35, this is much more detailed and worth listening to than some of the lenghty tracks on the next album, "...And Justice For All." A main guitar riff that's doubtless familiar to millions of people over the world, the lyrics are also handled greatly and the main "come crawling faster" choruses have great but short guitar sections which bring the song closer to perfection. The middle section is unlike ...

Advantages: Amazing album, I still listen to it! Disadvantages: None at all
...none came close to Metallica. Master Of Puppets was my favourite album at the time and I still listen to it to this day.
Now, Metallica have been going for several years - 20 to be precise and have released many albums. Master Of Puppets was first released in 1986 after Kill em All and Ride The Lightning. Now there was something in these 2 albums that weren’t quite right, its lacking the power of Master Of Puppets. It seems as though James Hadfield ... ...Battery 2. Master Of Puppets 3. Thing That Should Not Be 4. Welcome Home Sanitarium 5. Disposable Heroes 6. Leper Messiah 7. Orion 8. Damage Inc Now as there’s not many tracks on the album I way as well review them all (lucky you). I say this but the album still manages to be 55 minutes long and 3 songs are over 8 minutes. The fact that you don’t realize the song is over 8 minutes is credit to Metallica. Righty ho lets get to the reviewing bit.

Advantages: Guitars drums bass vocals Metallica and metal at its best Disadvantages: What Metallica are now
Metallica, one of the greatest bands and biggest letdowns. What are they now but another corporate band? This album goes back to a time before that before MTV when Metallica were at their peak and and just released this mind-blowing album that is up there with Iron Maidens Number of the Beast and Paranoid. The guitars are perfect with crunching riffs and there is always a melody. Cliff Burton builds on the musicianship of Ride the Lightning experimenting ... ...as ever. Hetfields voice is brilliant not as harsh or raspy as earlier releases and doesn't have the hollowness of Justice. Kirk Hammets leads are a carefully blended mixture of melody and sheer speed.
Battery starts off with a slow classical intro a, fitting introduction to this song. As it fades away you brace yourself for the sudden blast, which then becomes a full-blown riff. Lars Ulrich's blistering skin work gives this song the extra edge. ...

Kings of Metal Review ofMaster Of Puppets - Metallicaby
Fitzerman
Advantages: Hard crunching guitars, Burton's power on bass. Disadvantages: Were never as good after this
...to the anthem that is Master of Puppets this is a force to be reckoned with. Burton powers everything home, Hammet curls out demonic riff after riff, Hetfield is , well, a god and Lars drumming holds the hold show together. Forget about the napster court battles, the disappointing Load and Re-Load albums..................................................................
AND GO AND BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for reading my first Ciao ...
