...Mr Penate whose first album Matinee is a strong debut from a man who has a bit of talent.
I have been burnt before when jumping on the Myspace hype about artists, I bought the Jamie T album which was poor, managed to avoid the Katie Nash album, and enjoyed to a certain extent the Lilly Allen effort so with Penate I made sure I listened to a few of his tracks a few times before taking the plunge and buying his album and I was glad I did as I was ... ...musical style well he has a pretty good range, there are some obvious rockabilly influences alongside some Ska and reggae beats running through some of the tracks and he changes tempo on a number of records to ensure there is variety and a certain amount of depth to his work.
For me the stronger tracks on this album are the more up beat ones, Penate himself plays the guitar and his support consists of a bass guitar and drums so there is a simplicity ...

Ive been a fan of Jack Penates since i saw him in May at the great escape festival (Brighton) and since been to another 2 of his gigs, so naturally i was very excited for his album to come out. I ordered it from play.com as they are usually cheap ( i got the album for around £8), have free post and packaging and arrive about 2/3 days after ordering.
When the album arrived i didnt stop listening to it, all the songs on the album are great, which ... ...or two boring ones.
There is a range of songs on the album such as fast and catchy ones that make you wunna dance and sing along such as second minute or hour and torn on the platform. There is also some more slow ones for your chill out moments such as my yvonne and have i been a foul. There are 11 tracks in total and then a suprise one at the end which is always a treat.
However i really wish he added his cover 'Dub be good to me' on it ,as i ...
