...The emancipation of Mimi- 2005 This single surprised Mariah Carey fans as it was gripping and instantly I knew I had to buy it. R&B is its genre and lots of my friends loved this album as it seriously was too good to be true. With her remarkable voice, she has released her most focused record in over a decade. Carey opens the album by exhibiting some of the most sincerely soulful vocals of her career on the one-two punch of the up-tempo "It's Like That" and the beautiful ballad "We Belong Together." Her able voice expertly complements both the hazy hip-hop of Snoop Dogg on "Say Somethin'" and the acrobatics of Twista on the dream-like "One and Only." Advantages: Great debut album
Disadvantages: not to everyone's taste

...I was never really a Mariah Carey fan to begin with, I used to wonder what all the fuss was about and it wasn't until I heard Vision of Love on the radio a while ago that I decided to go and buy her debut cd years after it had been released. The album is an 11 track, a mix of ballards and dance, and that amazing voice that everone must know by now. Wether you like her or not you can't deny how talented she is. The album begins with Vision of love which was also the debut single, It's my favourite song of hers, a ballard which shows off her incredible voice at it's best. There's got to be away is a more upbeat song, it's not the kind of thing you'd usually hear Mariah singing about and the vocals may go a little over the top in places but it's still a good enough song. ...I have been a fan of Mariah Carey for many years my first record was her debut single "Vision of Love" which i got when i was 3. I have always liked the way every track on her albums seemed to have been recorded with 100% of her effort. When buying a Mariah cd you always get alot of tracks on the album, and the qulity of her voice is outstanding, when i saw that MTV Unplugged had released the cd of her live performance that she did for MTV's Unplugged series i thought i was going to get my "moneys worth" so to speak. However i was dissapointed when i saw there was only 7 tracks on the album, compared to the 13 or so you would normally get on one of her cd's, however i bought it anyway and decided to give it the benifit of the doubt and give it a try The quality of her voice is as outstanding as ever, you wouldnt know that it was...
