Melissa (Roadrunner Records 25th Anniversary Edition/+DVD) - Mercyful Fate

Advantages: Some excellent tracks
Disadvantages: A fair bit of filler, and one terrible song

Now I’m not against slow songs - some of the music I listen to is frankly painfully slow, but if you’re going to make things slow, you have to make them memorable in some other way, and Mercyful Fate fall flat on their face trying to do that here. Overall then, the last tracl lets down an otherwise good album - some outstanding tracks, a bit of filler and an awful ending, all go into making a somewhat average album. I wouldn’t advise you to buy this - there are much better Mercyful Fate releases out there. I would advise buying Melissa or Don’t Break the Oath.... Read review

...Repacked for the third time, "Thriller" by Michael Jackson is quite simply one of the best pop albums of all time. It is an album that inspired a generation of recording artists and its songs all stand up to the level of music being produced today. This 25th Anniversary edition has been received by some as something of a let down. It's fair to say the remix of Bliie Jean by Kanye West and the version of Wanna Be Startin' Something with Akon have really added nothing to the album. However, Fergie gives a good account of herself in "Beat It 2008" and how can you give this album anything other than 5 stars when it has the original "Thriller" album in its entirety, WITH bonus tracks.
